This weekend comming it the weekend to shoot at 1000 yards.. even though it is the championships.. we welcome young and old, seasoned and new long range shooters alike. This is your chance to be around some of the best long range shooters in Tennessee and surounding area. Shooting and being there will give you a chance to talk to some of the shooters and learn a lot from them.. hope to see you there!

PS.. You don't have to be a member of ORSA to shoot club, regional or state matches. Anyone can come shoot the NRA approved matches at ORSA.

For anyone even remotely interested in long range target shooting, I can't recomment Oak Ridge enough. Larry and the crew put on a great match and the range is beautiful. I wish I could get out of work this weekend. This is going to be the second year in a row I have to miss the Championship match......

ORSA is a great range with good people!

How big of a target is used at 1000 yrds? One day I'd like to try my Garand at that distance. :P

Gar, it is a 1 MOA target.. so the X ring is 10 inches. So it is purdy big.. come on and have a great time.. would love to see you again!

I think Froggy is so dedicated, he doesn't consider the rest of the target board for score!! Me, I'll take a 10 anyday ;)

The target is 6'x6', with six rings that start as X and go to 7. The entire board outside the 7 ring is worth 6 points. If I'm not mistaken, the aiming black is a 42" circle. Like Froggy said, the X ring is 10", the 10 ring is 20" and so on. For F class, the target scoring rings are half that size. A very challanging target.

Your Garand should make it supersonic with Match Grade ammo above 175gr. The lighter stuff will go subsonic and tumble around 850 yards.

I like to think .. aim small .. miss small.. I was practicing the other day.. shot 10 rounds.. shot a 99-6X .. with the palma gun.. which is what I will be shooting.
