I just walked outside to have a smoke and there was a Doe and a fawn across the street. It's 2;30 am. They just stared at me. I stared at them. I estimated they were about 35 yards away next to a mail box.

the staring went on for a few mins and they didn't move. I figured I'd pace the distance and see if I was right or not, and they would run off. I started pacing and they moved back slowly. I paced to where they were ( very close to 40 yards ) and they only moved about 15 feet so I was about 15 feet from them and they just stood there wondering what the heck I was doing.

Wish it went like that in the woods.

Maybe they wanted you to pet them... maybe a belly rub.

I got a rangefinder this year as a gift. It's cool, but I hope it doesn't get in the way when I'm out in the woods.
