Kahr PM9 Guide Rod Endpiece Unscrewed Itself

New KAHR, just about broken in, the end of the guide rod visible at the bore end unscrewed itself and was lost. I thought these parts were supposed to be loctited. I ordered a new assembly and also complained to kahr.

I am a little disappointed, this is kind of harshing my buzz after a generally good day at the range.

Highlight of the day? Hitting the bullseye at the 50 yard range with my Kimber 1911 Stainless 2. I put up the ShootnC, walked back, shot my last three rounds of 45 just to see if I could hit the target and nailed it. My shooting buddy just shook his head. I win. ;)

Did Kahr make you pay for the new assembly? Kahr sent me a new Slide stop, and spring for free when I got my P380 and it was catching on the round coming out of the magazine and locking the slide back. And my Magazine that started cracking up the back.

Dang, I didn't realize that even WAS a threaded part.

I'll have to look at mine next time I break it down.

First time I ever heard that one and I've read most every Kahr bash on the net.

I really like the gun, it is extremely accurate. If I do everything right, the bullet goes where it is supposed to every time. After the first 150 rounds, it was feeding everything including decade old hollowpoints from a racked slide.

It never dawned on me that the end part could unscrew. According to the technical specs, it is supposed to be loctighted. KAHR also considers the assembly a non user serviceable part. Ie, they will not send you a screw on part, just the whole rod. So why not weld it or stake it or glue it? Anyway, Kahr will probably send me a new guide rod, and I ordered a second for $15 from their web site.

I am going to tack the new ones with a weld on the inside.

This is an issue report, not really a bash. The gun kept operating long (probably) after the part was unknowingly lost. I was cleaning and inspecting the bore every 50 rounds or so. It might have been as many as 50 rounds it operated without the cap. I didn't notice it was missing until I broke it down for detail cleaning.

Just FYI
