colt commander question re wilson combat mags

I have a question on magazine fit-up. My series 70 Colt Combat Commander is at the gunsmith's shop, but he recommended I start using Wilson Combat magazines. I ordered two of them from Midway and they are already here. Model 47DC, sized for the commander, but since my gun is at the shop I can't try them in it. I'm looking at the base pads, and even though they are called the slim base pad, it appears there is a section of the black base pad material going up the front edge of the magazine tube, and while I recall the Colt magazine having a little thin metal flat strip that stuck out right there, this looks thicker. Do you guys think this will actually fit in the notch at the bottom/front of the frame? Or will the Wilson Combat magazine stick out too far with the stainless steel tube of the mag showing? Sorry, it's hard to explain, I just don't know if the mag will go up into the mag well far enough because of the base pad projection on the front side. Any experience with this?

if you put the colt mag, and the wilson mag side by side the wilson should be a little longer. you will probably see a little of the SS showing on the sides with the mag in and the front of the base should fit right up in the notch in the front of the mag well. all of my wilson mags show a little SS on the sides.

I think they are made that way to work with an extended mag well. You can look on the Wilson site for pics that might help you.

I have 2 of the Wilson ETM mags in 8 round and both mags you can see on the side the metal showing,I believe they are longer,I believe the 7 round will fit in your commander.

The Wilson 47DC mags should fit fine, I use them in my Nighthawk commander they are fantastic magazines

I have a Springfield v-10 compact .45 the factory mag.is a 6 round fit's flush.I bought two wilson combat mag's in ss they are 7 round mag's both show a little ss at the bottom like the above pic.But i get an extra round in each you should be fine.
