Please, someone, bring me a cigarette!

If you need inspiration to quit, come hang out with my father and I. He smoked for over 40 years. We used to be active together outside; hunting, shooting, sporting events, etc. Now all of that is gone, he as quit smoking now, but only because he drags oxygen around every where with him. From my eyes, I guess what I am trying to tell you, if you do not have the strength to do it for yourself, do it for your kid or kids. I am sure there is nothing else in the world you love more than your child, and trust me as a child of a smoker, smoking will only take away from that short, special amount of time you will have to spend with them. I would give anything, anything at all if my dad would have just tried a little harder to quit when he was younger.

I know it is hard. I just recently quit chewing. My biggest advice, and I think someone else already said it, you must change your habbits of normal life. If you are used to smoking after dinner, you have to replace that action with something else. Perhaps, devote that little time to playing with your daughter, or instead of going to smoke, go brush your teeth. It can be just some stupid little small thing as long as you use it as a replacement. I hope that helps.

Good luck with this. I sincerely hope, for your health and for your child, that you are able to stick this out. I promise you that one day when you are 80, you will not look back one your life and say, "Damn, I wish I had just smoked a couple more packs." but if you are laying in your bed with oxygen pumping through your nose when you are 60, you will look back and say, "If only I had quit sooner."

I'm still doing good this morning and it is getting easier. The first thing I did this morning was view this thread for motivation. Thanks everyone for your stories and support.

Husband and I are still doing good and are not smoking. We went for a bike ride around the neighborhood today and took a walk around the block last night. So far, so good.

stick with it, I was quit for over 2 years and started back about 6 months ago. So remember to remain vigilant and that even one isn't ok. I will be quitting again shortly, just have to prepare for the battle.
