Secure-It Boxes

Recommended Posts

Okay - so even though there is nothing against having a firearm on company property in any way shape or form, the wife is uncomfortable with me carrying to work. I did it today with out incident. No one noticed in the least, but she insisted that rather than taking a chance on losing a job that I absolutely love I should start leaving it in the car. The problem I have with that is there is no way to lock it up in the car other than the glove box and we all know how secure those are.

So I did some searching. I can go to www.tuffyproducts.com and get a really nice under seat drawer for the back seat and have storage for the gun and then some for about $300. Or, I can go to Midway or another vendor and get a secure-it security box and mount it to the floor of the car under a seat.

The question is, has anyone had experience with one of these:

After 0down's lovely statistics that he provided about this city, I really don't want to be unarmed.

Actually I prefer (and own) these- SCC2056NRA_security_L.jpgSecurityPackPistol_L.jpg

You can find 'em here at the Beretta eStore. The safe offered by Midway is less expensive but is metal and tends to "clunk around" a bit under the seat. This one is soft and quiet and doesn't move and slide out from under the seat while taking corners or making stops. I can leave it there locked to my seat frame until I need it. I have one for my wife and one for myself. They also make these for long guns.

Of course, upon further reflection, living in Memphis you might need one of these-

I just got the secure-it box from Midway. Been meaning to get one for a while now. It came today and works just fine. Fits well enough under the seat, but tends to slide around some. I'm thinking some velcro will do the trick. The steel was not as heavy gauge as I expected, so its certainly no vault. My Glock 19 just barely fits the standard size. If you have a full-size 1911 or similar, you may want to go for the larger size. It can fit my gun and a couple spare mags. Comes with 2 keys. I set it up under the passenger seat, as it was easier for me to get to it that way.

Mike, do you have one of these in your range wagon? Or can you bring it to the next meet? I'd like to take a gander at one of these.
