Unless you have access to private land then you have pretty much have to join the masses on public hunting land. It's not all bad on public land. If you are after the experience of being in the woods more than killing a huge deer, the you can have an enjoyable experience.

Check out the TWRA site for WMA and public hunting land maps and regulations.

I usually recommend that adults that have little hunting experience go to the library and rent some hunting videos and books. There is a lot of good information out there for free.

It's great to find a hunting buddy that can take you out and teach you first hand. A co-worker, church member or neighbor. Look for hints of camo and strike a conversation.
