are all factory loaded/reloaded 147 9mm ammo sub sonic?

or is just the labeled sub sonic?

i do believe it is some where around 1000fps that the round has to stay under to be sub sonic.

thanks

There are 2 loads listed that top 1000fps, one using Blue Dot and one using Long Shot. I did not look at AA. So I was going to say no until I saw those, though I personally never trusted Blue Dot and I have never used Long Shot. I think it would be safe to say most shorter barreled pistols will stay down to 950 anyways.

Georgia Arms has a +p 147 gr. that claims 1050.

Out of what length barrel it needs to actually reach that, I dunno.

But most places show regular 900-950 fps 147 grain doing quite well in the ole gel tests, especially with a Gold Dot boolit on the end.

EDIT: GA Arms also shows a 147 gr. Gold Dot +p that claims 1200!

Speed of sound in fps is little over 1100, we were just talking about this yesterday at work.

I have never seen any rated high enough to not be sub-sonic, think the case pressure would be too high.

1200fps is cranking for 147grn, 176pf. Wonder if they are testing on 5" barrel or what? One of the tactical model glocks etc have 5" or little over barrel would have more speed.

looking for loaded ammo i could buy that keeps the power factor down around 130-135 with a 5".

a 176 pf wow!

Are you looking for match IDPA or USPSA ammo by chance. Atlanta Arms would be the closest source for loaded rounds for matchs. I think it runs 130pf in Beretta Elite.

I and many at NTPS ran 147's in minor PF in the beginning but all went to 124grn. They return point of aim better and just time out better on stages for me. My full size guns cycle better with them. I run 11 pound springs in CZ and Beretta. 12.5 pound ISMI in my 5" 1911.

Some note that 147s hit a little high, but mine are dead on. I run a Glock 34 with a 13 pound spring. 3.2 grains of Titegroup gets me about 890 fps and almost 131 PF. My 115 load makes about the same PF, but recoil is noticably stiffer. The 147s shoot more softly, and are better on steel targets. They run flawlessly, and they are worth the extra $20/1K, IMO. I love 'em.
