I've heard the pull is long, but they have a very short reset.......is this not the case?

Thanks. I heard this with the initial release but from what I hear they are working out all the bugs. No idea tho as I haven't shot one yet.

This is not really a pocket gun, that is, unless you've got really big pockets. I'm an average sized guy and there is no way I could carry this in my pocket. However, your pinky finger will not fit on the grip either just like in the case of real pocket guns (like the Ruger LCP or LCR). Go to your local shop and hold a "Slim", you'll see what I mean.

All the bad stories I've heard about this gun are related to FTE issues. I had the same issue with certain ammo, but Taurus made it right. The gun is a looker, accurate, easy to conceal, feels very good in my hand, and it's very affordable. I got mine NIB for $369. I did have to send it into Taurus to work on it (replace the extractor), but it's great now! The gun did fire most brands of ammo without FTE issues, but a couple of brands did FTE (see my previous post detailing the brands). I wanted mine to shot everything, as it should. And, it does now!

I was just at the range again over the weekend and I tell ya, this is a sweet shooting gun. As for the long trigger pull, it takes a few rounds to get used to it. There is probably 3/4 inch of slack (super light pull) before you feel the resistance, then it's a crisp (very short) 4lb trigger pull. Once you start firing, you simply reset the trigger (maybe 1/8-1/4 inch reset) and your back to that crisp 4lb trigger pull. This is why there is an external safety on this gun - it doesn't have the heavy resistance throughout the pull like a double action. It's trigger is more like that on most target guns that I've shot - less all the slack. They advertise this as DA/SA, but the only time you'll feel the double action is if you need to use it's double strike feature or when dry firing.

BTW - I spoke with Taurus about the extend mag... They're not making them yet, even though it says they have them available in the owner's manual. This is the second time I've asked Taurus about them and both times they said check back next month.

FWIW - I really like this gun. If yours has FTE issues, send it in and get it fixed, then you'll like it too. Hopefully, their current production line has the new extractor. If that is the case, I doubt you'll find any "bugs" at all with this gun.

Thanks, please continue to keep us updated. I also really like the gun, its sending it back that has kept me away so far.......

I have put 100 rounds through mine. I had 1 failure to fire in the second magazine, Pulled the trigger again and it went bang. Out of the box the sites are terrible. I could not hit a 8x11 target at 7 yards, after some adjusting of the sites, I was surprised of the accuracy of such a small gun. 4-6 inch group at 7-10 yards BTW i was using winchester white box and threw in some federal fmj. Not the best quality ammo. Overall I am very happy with this gun. I just wish they would hurry up and make some accessories for it.

I had the pleasure of firing one yesterday at GnL. The trigger does have a really long take-up, but it does have a REALLY clean and crisp break. Follow up shots are a breeze with the really short reset. I've found that most Tauri have the same sort of long trigger/short reset. If you treat your first shot as your followup shot, you'll be pretty amazed at how YOU shoot it. I think that because the break is so far back, your hand moves less when the shot goes off. It feels weird because you're expecting it to break much much sooner. I found that I started shooting my Glocks better afterwards, because it took me out of the "anticipate the bang" mindset. When they get the issues with the extractor ironed out, this'll be a great carry weapon. Kahr and Walther will absolutely lose market share, and they should. It's around the same size as a Keltec PF-9. I think it's a great weapon. It still looks a whole lot like a Toyota Prius to me, but all in all, in baseball terms, the 709 is at least a Triple that brings in 2 runners on base, get the extractor solved and it'll absolutely be a home run with runners on base..

I have at least 700 rounds through mine with absolutely no problems. I have fired just about every type of ammo i could find through it. It currently is loaded with Hornady Critical Defense and is used as a backup/truck gun.
