Im jealous. I have always wanted a Luger but spending over a grand on a gun just isnt in my immediate future. Maybe one day though.

Hey guys, had a nice little surprise tonight. My mother in law came over tonight to visit with her grandson etc., and she brought her Father's WWII Luger for me to look at and hold on to.

I don't know a whole lot about these, but understand there are several versions, years, etc. Here are some pictures of the gun and the holster. I was able to track the holster down to a company in Germany (duh) who manufactured them for soilders. The gun has serial #'s on the side and under the frame by the trigger guard. There's also a two digit # on the barrel (36). Has the eagle (?) markings on there as well.

Just thought I'd check on here and see if anyone can tell me specifics about this particular pistol. Thanks!

How about.........bright red with black tiger stripes! Or we could just chrome it out.

Took it to a gun shop during lunch, they pulled out a pricing book. This particular model apparently was one of the rarest, being a 36 series. He said in this condition it would go for $4500 :P, and know's a guy who only collects Krieghoff Lugers who would probably give me $5000 and meet me withing 15 minutes if I wanted to sell it. :drama:

Needless to say, it's locked up nice and tight in the safe.

I just heard back from the Luger expert I had emailed the pictures to, he just told me it would go for at least $10,000, possibly $14,000 if a dealer was willing to pay that much in the current market.

Daaaayum!! :)

It would be worth more with a nice new Duracoat finish on it. Maybe hot pink? Think it over?

Eh, to my mind, that's one of those guns you don't sell at any price.

But that's just me, I guess.

I would not sell it either, just trying to drive Hatmaker crazy :)

If you were in arms reach, and I could quit laughing long enough, I think I'd have to smack you for that one. :)

I told the wife, and she's like: "Tell my mom, she can use the money", I told her to tell her mom to get a loan or something, because this thing's already locked up and ain't coming out.

:)

Edit:

You wanna make a little money off that gun, Jhat?

Set up some "visiting hours" and charge admission.

And don't let anybody touch it without them wearing white cotton gloves.

He's got a wife for that... no need for any of us to get involved. :panic:
