I'm with XD how about a SUNDAY...SUNDAY...SUNDAY shoot?

If we can get an accurate head count, and everyone's willing to fork over $, we could get some BBQ or something, and have a little buffet line going.

Hopefully it won't be as hot as it has been this summer. The heat didn't really help much with my hunger, I wanted more Gatorade than food. I'd be happy to handle this part if folks were up for it, but it has to be on a weekend when I'm in town. With college football starting, I'll be traveling almost every other weekend going to games.

OK maybe we sould ask what weekends are you going to be around?

How does the 12th ro 19th sound?

EDIT: I posted Saturday dates. Sunday dates are 13 & 20.

Sunday is football. And the NFL starts the weekend of the 12th for people who like the NFL

So, like two or three people won't be down for Sundays then....;) j/k

Just not a big NFL fan, can't get into it like College Football.

Looks like this may be one of the last get-together's of the year outdoor-wise. Personally, I love the cold weather, so unless it's raining/sleeting (b/c we all know we ain't gettin' no snow here) I'll be shooting through the rest of the year outdoors.

Looking at the schedules for September:

9/19

Alabama pays at home against North Texas

UT plays on the road at Florida (2:30 CST CBS game)

9/20

Titans plays the Texans at home (Noon)

So I really think we could do it either day. If we start an hour early on Saturday, all the UT fans will be home before Kick-off (the Bama game I don't think is televised, so I'm good). Sunday would work for all the non-NFL guys (like me), but would suck for the Titans fans b/c the game is during the prime meet-up times. Let's create a vote, or do like we did last month and have it both days. We could make Saturday be college day and you have to wear your teams gear/colors.

We'll do our best to make it, but Sept and Oct are going to be crazy-busy for me with the TGO / Outpost / Barrett event breathing down on me.

I'm still upset I'm going to miss that. Maybe something will work out...

Shooting in football pads and helmets? Sounds :)

On a more serious note, I should know in a day or so if I can make it that Sunday. I have a small portable gas grill I could bring if the BBQ thing gets too hard to organize. Everyone could bring their own fixings and cook their food of choice on the grill as they got hungry.

JH, we've been known to hook up the camper and head to games to tailgate. We don't usually worry about getting into the game as we watch it on satellite and tailgate through the entire game. If that sounds good let me know.

I think Sept 13 or 20 works for me.

So.....what'd we decide?

How about I make an executive decison and say 9/20. (for those going to the Titans game, you can go out there on the 19th.)

Turns out I'll will be going out of town, so I'll miss this one if we have it next weekend.

Didn't someone plan a meet at G&L on the evening of the 27th?

Yeah, this is a different meet different though. Most folks bring their rifles/AR's out to the Owl Hollow range; Gun & Leather shoot is indoor only, so as of now, pistols only.

Sorry I haven't been checking on this, Been remodeling a Bathroom & man that takes some time.

Looks like we missed out on the 13th.

Looks as if we have a few giong for the 20th. I say we go for it.

Just be sure to hit record on the Titans game:)

Official date & time: Sun. Sep.20 11:00 to 2:00.

As always to stay after 2:00 you need to talk with Charlie & become a member or talk a member into staying.

Thanks for your patience.

OK can sombody throw up some directions and weapons limitations? I need to get out and sight in the new SBR. Is it pistols only or pistols and rifles? Can I bring a friend? What is the cost?

From last month:

Cost to shoot as a guest is $5.00 per person. You must supply your own eye and ear protection, paper targets and target hanging materials.

Rifle lanes require a heavy duty stapler and cardboard to hang targets to the backstops. The handgun pit requires cardboard, stapler and/or heavy tape to hang targets from the backstop.

Recommend that you bring insect repellent and bottled water or soft drinks. Alcohol is not allowed! Weather dependent, also bring sunscreen and/or shoes that you don't mind getting muddy and dirty. This is an OUTDOOR range.

Directions To Owl Hollow Shooting Range

Range is located approximately 10 miles south of downtown Franklin, Tennessee in Williamson county. From I-65 South/North take the Peytonsville Road exit, #61; go West about .7 mile to the red light at South US 431 (Lewisburg Pike); turn South (towards Lewisburg) onto US 431 and go approximately 6.5 miles to Owl Hollow Road; turn west onto Owl Hollow Road; the range is located approximately 1.1 miles on the left side of the road.

Approximate GPS Coordinates for those with GPS devices: Latitude 35.7606 N ; Longitude -86.8571 W

*** There will not be an organized lunch connected to this month's get together ***

Important Update Regarding Owl Hollow:

As many of you know, the Owl Hollow Gun Club no longer has the lease for the shooting range. The range is now being run by the landowner. The landowner is fine with us continuing to meet there during the summer provided that we police ourselves and ensure that everyone is being safe and responsible.

Some changes that should be mentioned are:

There is now only the 25yd pistol pit. The short pistol pit has been closed down as of this writing. Only handgun calibers may be shot in the pistol pit. Centerfire rifle calibers may not. We did shoot some defensive shotgun (12ga) in the pistol pit yesterday and the owner did not appear to have a problem with that.

Full auto weapons are not allowed to be fired in full auto. If you have a full auto, you can bring it and shoot it but you have to stay in single fire mode.

Rapid firing is permissible as long as it is kept in 3-round, controlled strings. Bump firing is forbidden.

Anyone doing anything unsafe will be asked to leave. Period.

That's pretty much it. We will review these rules again on the day of the event just to make sure that there are no gray areas. It's imperative that we respect the wishes of the landowner if we want to be allowed to meet there again.
