Do the memory foam beds hold heat? Ihave to have a cool room and bed to sleep.

If you buy the allergy cover that they will try to sell you, yes. I also have th Serta model which, like David said was much cheaper than the Tempur-Pedic. We've had it since May '05 and it still feels great.

Hmm, good stuff. I hate mattresses, I hate mattress places, and it seems like the people in them selling the stuff are brain washed. (no offense to poster who's gf works at one.)

We were sold a "great" mattress when we first got married, money was not really an issue, and was told, this Simmons' is the best on the market, within a year, we both would have to climb up the middle to get to each other...we are both light weights (I was around 150 then and she was 115 or so and we are not far from that today.) We got a replacement under warranty, within 2 years, same thing, warranty, replace, upgrade to a Serta, a withing 3 years, same thing, ended up with a top of the line Sterns and Foster...within a couple of years, warranty, new mattress, another Sterns and Foster, and it has the same indention's, while not as bad as the others. We have a 3' topper on top, I also have egg crate stuff under mine where my back and lower back are to give me extra support.

I HATE MATTRESSES. Growing up, never had this problem, I know other people that have mattreses for 15 to 20 years that don't have these problems. I will never buy a coil mattress again.

Have been looking at the sleep # or the temper pedic style.

I've got a knock-off memory foam mattress from Healthy Foundations, and frankly, I like it a lot better than the Tempur-Pedics I've tried. It didn't stink coming out of the box, there was no break-in period, it doesn't get hard as a rock when the room is cold, and it cost about 1/3 as much. Oh, and it instantly cured the insomnia with which I had struggled since I was a teenager. Just my :D...

Hmm, interesting bit of information, this from the Healthy Foundations site:

Memory Foam Mattresses

At the moment, we aren't currently carrying memory foam mattresses. Tempur-Pedic filed a lawsuit in June of 2009, against most of the major mattress manufacturers, alleging patent infringement (of their recently issued patent regarding the use of memory foam in a mattress). Since then, as a precautionary measure, we've been working our manufacturers to understand this action and evaluating options for proceeding. Until we decide, we have stopped carrying our memory foam mattresses.

We just looked at and laid on a King size tempurpedic Supreme Cloud, that is by far the most comfortable bed I have ever laid on, we were set on buying the Deluxe model but this one is DEFINITELY worth the extra money and we will be getting one

I bought a Serta Pillowtop mattress and went to Wal Mart and spent 100 bucks on the Memory Foam topper, I LOVE IT. And, I'm right there with the, "if the house is above 70, I'm burning up." My thermostat is on 66, year round.

Beleive it or not but flannel sheets insulate you from the memory foam. my AC is set @ 76, and my heat gets set on 72. If I had it @ 66 in the house eveyone in the family would claim I was trying to hang meat.

I don't keep it on 66 because the memory foam gets cold/hot. I use Jersey Knit sheets anyways. I just like it COOOLLLLLDDDDD.

My wife finally dragged me in Mattress Express and got

a clone tempur pedic( Serta?) two years ago. About a

Thousand bucks and the best thing since sliced bread!

Mattress and pillows can't be beat. We priced one of

those Tempur Pedic and walked out of that store. She

still rotates the damn thing once a month like it is a coil

one. Now, I hate a regular mattress even in a good

motel.

We have a Tempur Pedic and bought them for our children as well. Everyone sleeps great. We keep our house warmer than most of you who are sleeping in a wine cellar. Still no problems with being hot. It did seem to take about 2 weeks to get used to it.

I have the 10" tempurpedic and I love it. It took me a couple of weeks to adjust to it. It is the best investment I have made (with the exception of my guns..lol).

Looked at their site this morning and it appears the lawsuit or whatever is working itself out, here is a message from them,

From: David Rosenberg, proprietor, Healthy Foundations

Updated March 14, 2010

As of today, we've sold out of the 300 mattresses test mattresses we were offering. We want to thank those that helped us by participating in the test. And we look forward to getting their reviews in over the next month or two so we can share with you all the results -- and which mattress, or mattresses, that earned the best reviews and that we will be offering in the future.

I'm glad to hear that. I went on a cruise for my honeymoon last week, and that "luxury" mattress tore my back all to hell. I couldn't wait to get home to MY bed, and when I finally did, my back was fixed LITERALLY overnight. Here's hoping that the lawsuit doesn't prevent them from putting out the same quality product as before...

You can save money buying a knock-off, and you won't notice a difference. Either way, you'll be spoiled for life, and it's well worth the money.

Wife and I just bought the Simmons NXG memory foam bed. The top is memory foam just like Tempur-pedic, but the base is Simmons Beautyrest single coils instead of super hard foam. The only reason I'm finding it better is the base of the mattress has more air in it so it disperses heat better than the solid foam core. I CANNOT sleep if I'm the least bit warm. When laying on a memory foam mattress of any kind, you will notice that it does not dissipate heat very well.

I didn't even know you could buy waterbeds anymore.

I don't know if you can, it was sitting in the attack waiting for me to move out......

I have a Tempur-Pedic mattress, bought it for my fiancee as an anniversary present when we bought our new house. I have never slept so well in my life. It definitely has my recommendation. Word of advice though. If you do decide to get one, make sure to get the water proof mattress cover sheet. The salesman probably won't tell you, but the ten year warranty is void if you have any stains what-so-ever on the mattress. My buddy manages a mattress store (which is how I was able to afford the Tempur-Pedic) and he gave me a little inside information. Apparently they are not supposed to volunteer this information to the customer.

Tempur -Pedic is the bomb. Over the last 10 years or so we've converted all of the begs in our house. Stay over guests love the one in the guest bedroom...

Sam's club has a line that are the foam/Latex. They are called Night Therapy. They have an 8", Sam's Club-8" Memory Foam Mattress & Bed Frame Set - King, that comes with a the stand, you don't have to use box springs. We already have a 3" memory foam topper on our existing bed, that we could add to this one. For the price, it is hard to beat.

We ordered our Cloud Supreme Tempur Pedic 17 days ago, we have been using the Cloud pillows for a week as they were shipped quickly. We absolutely love the 2 pillows I need to order 2 more in the future. The Bed arrived yesterday, I can honestly say that I would have paid much more money to sleep this comfortably. This is by far the most comfortable bed I have ever laid down in. When you think about the fact that you spend 1/3 of your life in bed trying to sleep, an investment such as this is a no brainer! I will never use another mattress, we ordered a Queen just to be sure we like it, within a year or so that one will go to the Guest room and we will get a California King Cloud Supreme

Just as Caveman recommended we put the Tempur mattress protector on it,
