With as much shooting as I have been doing lately, combined with the continually rising prices of ammo, I have decided to go ahead and purchase 1000 rounds of 45ACP and .223.

Does anyone have a recommendation on the best place to order from. I am looking for standard 230g FMJ for the 45 and 55g FMJ for the 223. I have looked at Georgia Arms and their prices are pretty reasonable ($235/1000 for the 45 and $320/1000 for the 223). Does anyone have a better recommendation? I would prefer to order out of state as the cost of shipping tends to be less than half of what the cost of sales tax would be.

I ended up ordering 500rd of 230g 45 FMJ and 500rd of 55g .223 FMJ from Georgia Arms to try out. I havent been able to find any bad reviews of their ammo so I figured I would give em a shot. It ended up being $122.50 for the 45 and $165 for the .233. I think shipping was something around $30.

We've had some FTE issues with G-A .45acp in my wife's RIA 1911... everything else, including several brands of JHP, feeds and functions 100%. I imagine that guns with tight chambers may be affected by the use of previously fired brass more than others.

Interesting...Ill report back with how it does in my guns. I will be using it in a Series 1 Kimber 1911 and a M&P 45. Thus far, I have no FTEs in the 1911 and just one in the M&P (CCI blazer brass and it was someone else firing the gun so I cant comment on if the shot was limp wristed).

No prob...here is the range report on the ammo I just bought....

ok, so I got my ammo...took 250rds to the range...first 125 no issues, lot of flash, sigma was pretty dirty...went outside for a smoke, drank a coke, went back in for the next 125..started fine, first 2rds went no prob, 3rd rounds fired, but didnt eject, got locked into the barrel, had to field strip and it took the local gunsmith to remove the case from the barrel..he told me it is common with Sellier & Bellot ammo cause the polymer they use causes the metal fragment to stick in the barrel, he said went I went outside to smoke the barrel cooled down causing it to stick more...he said if I am gonna coninute shooting this ammo, I cant let the barrel cool...or he said I should bring my cleaning rod and clean the barrel before taking a break. He also told me to clean the gun after EVERY range trip with this ammo..He cleaned the barrel for me, went back in, and I was back off to the races with no issues...got home, and DAMN it took forever to clean...

I bought 1000rds of this stuff, it shoots, but damn...

oh well, live and learn, I will blow through this junk and next time I know that cheap price, isnt the best bang for the buck. on the bright side...almost everyone I talked to tonight said that this brand is way better than Wolf....

It probably IS way better than wolf.... wolf is just that bad!!

I bought a box of wolf for my 40 sigma and every 2nd or 3rd round locked up the gun so tight I had to bang the cases out with a cleaning rod. After doing that 4 times I just gave away the last 38 rounds to somebody at the range. They saw all I had gone through, and they still wanted it! I left, so I don't know if he had the same problem or not. My gun was squeaky clean and properly lubed, that stuff just sucks!

I had the same problem in my AR. Brass only for me in that.

I haven't had any probs with the aluminum blazer stuff, so I still use that when I find a deal on it.

Isnt the WWB down around $14 per 100 at Wal-Mart? Its been awhile since I bought any 9mm.

I dont know what it is...I have been to wallyworld about 9 times now and they never have anything special that I cant buy at the range for $1.00 or so cheaper...I am talking about the one in Bartlett...

WWB in 9mm is 15.77 before taxes at WalMart.

I have used Wolf in .40S&W one box worth and it ran like crap through my Hi-Point. It seemed underpowered and would not cycle the gun properly.

On the other hand I have put a bunch of Wolf in .45ACP through my RIA and it goes bang everytime. Does not seem any dirtier than any other brand, including S&B. The S&B all ran fine too.

Cabellas seems pretty reasonable for ammo to me. Got a good deal on Wolf .45 and also on 7.62x39

For the money that could be spent on the above, you could be setup with a Dillon press and a few other items and load your own.

I have considered it...but living in an apartment doesnt afford me with the excess space to set up a reloading station. Also, at this point in time, I would rather spend what little free time I have shooting as opposed reloading.

Canynracer-

Thanks for the tip on AmmunitionToGo... I think. Best price I've seen anywhere - by far - on Speer Gold Dot. Just spent waaay to much money there to supplement my SHTF stash. G&A here in Memphis' price is about $18 for a box of 20 - A2G only has 50 and 500 round boxes, but the per round price would put a 20rd. box at about $11. Heckuva deal, IMO.
