This belongs to a freind of mine. He wanted me to come up with some info on it before he hangs in on the wall.

So far I have been told it is a Belgian musket converted to a 12ga more than likely right after the Civil War.

Whatcha got??

That's going to be the problem with identifying the gun.

Based on what I've been reading, many folks made other modifications when doing the conversion. This was their way of "sporterizing" back in the day.

They would remove parts, cut barrels and stock, etc. So, the gun you have now, may look very little like it did in its original condition.

I was told the marking on the left side of the barrel is Belgian.:mad:

It very well may be. I'm not that familiar those type of firearms.

If it were mine, I think I'd remove the barrel just to see if there were any markings on the underside.

I found the proof mark, it is Belgian. Also a little more looking found they used alot of French actions with Belgian barrels & put Zulu conversians in them.

Still looks like the value of such gun is around $200-$300.
