I've had limited experience with one and in fact it was what convinced me to spend the extra money for the Dillon D-Terminator Digital Scale. It seemed to be pretty accurate but was only consistant to a grain or two. What I mean by this was that I could measure the same charge multiple times and the weight would vary slightly. Not tha a grain or two is that big of a deal in 12 ga reloading. I love the Dillon Digital, it is fast, accurate and consistant. BTW, the only reloading I do is 12 & 20 Ga. on a MEC 650N (20 Ga.) & 9000GN (12 ga.).

I have one, my brother has one and I also have the much older version. It is what it is- a beam scale. Very well built and accurate according to my weight check set.

Digital is so much easier though!

With 12 ga., I do not know if I would bother with a digital press though. I assume you will just be checking one every now and then to make sure your press is throwing them correctly. I check about 1 out of every couple of boxes. Probably not enough, but I trust the MEC.

Thanks for the posts, I'm just getting started and I'm using a mec 600jr, I'll probably go with a beam scale since there is alot of negative feedback on the cheaper digital ones

The RCBS 505 is an excellent basic scale. I used one for many years before I got a RCBS 10-10.

what about the 5-10, are they better than the 505?

i use a RCBS Rangemaster 750 scale. its their cheaper, smaller scale. its great and accurate. it is also a digital. not sure how much the 505 goes for but i think i paid 100 for my digital.

I use a 5-10, and it is very accurate compared to my digital scale. I like the micrometer poise that it has, easier than the tab.
