No idea. How would I know? Anything specific to look for?

Keyhole (hole) as see in this photo, above the cylinder release:

Allows the locking of the internal mechanism, effectively "safing" the handgun and preventing it from firing. Also known to be problematic (read: engages on it's own) in higher caliber versions of these J-frames. A lot of people opt for the non-ILS models, or simply perform the DIY method of removing the lock feature.

don't ever activate the lock, and it will not fail from what i have read. my wife has one, never had a problem. $400-425 used is great with ammo and holster

I have seen 642 brand new go for 450+tax so i would have a hard time paying 450 for it used. Like others said i would offer 400. he would probably offer to split the difference and go 425. if its quality ammo and a holster you would use i would take it.

I got mine used for 400 with a box of pmc ammo and a holster and origianl packaging so i think thats a fair price to offer.

just an update. I'm picking it up today for 425 which I think is pretty fair. I don't think I could have done much better new + TT or shipping and transfer. It's the non locking model and has the box and papers..
