Hey Tubby! Up for a challenge?

Might do some crossfit stuff. If you haven't looked at that stuff, do it. That stuff is intense, and the P90X seems to be similar.

Yeah, a buddy of mine is pretty heavily into CrossFit, and he loves it. Seems to be similar to P90X in using a lot of body weight exercises like push ups, pull ups, and dips and in that it has variety (CrossFit moreso than P90X obviously).

For anybody in the Nashville area who is interested, this is wear my buddy works out:

CrossFit CFT

They also post WODs, so if you've got some spare room in your garage you can build your own gym and train at home.

Ok, we have a bunch of people on board, so let's summarize where we're at:

This is a 12 week transformational and weight loss challenge.

There are two ways to participate:

1) Weight loss lost by percentage of total weight. This is the best way for those not wishing to post pictures to compete.

2) Overall appearance of transformation. Before and after pictures to be posted at end of contest, with winner to be voted on by TGO members. Pertinent stats can also be posted with the photos. Progress reports can be posted any time if you wish.

"Official" start date is Sept 1.

This challenge is for motivation and support of the participants, but if anyone wants to offer a prize, that would be great too.

I'm not approaching it as a "diet" really, so I'LL be fine. I've been eliminating all the really bad stuff anyway, and if I have to put in some gym time for a burger I'll do it. If I try to be so strict I feel denied, I might be inclined to say screw the whole thing. If I sin, I'll put in extra time sweating and move on.

You can have my serving of salmonella sunshine salad! :)

Fair enough. My best friend is a runner as well, he has figured that he can eat and drink up to certain amount of beers during the week, but he has to get in 20 miles!! So he runs so he can drink...he drinks so he runs...:P

I do that as well, I try to eat healthy as much as possible, but I am not going to do without something I like, so if I splurge, I work out more. However, for the most part, when I lost my weight, I didn't splurge much. If I ate something, no drinking, if I drank something, no bad food....most of the time. By the way, I am 5'9" and was at 185, I am down to 160-165 right now and have maintained that for the last 3 months.

I'm 6'0" and currently ~375 lb., down from 408 in January, but leveled off & have started creeping back up, so this might be a good motivator. :)

Any prize donation as of yet? I'm thinking if we all lose weight the winner will need new clothes the most so maybe some 5.11 pants or headshot shirts would be a good prize?

how about everyone involved agrees to pay the "winner" $5. could be by paypal or cash by mail. that doesn't cost anyone much but the winner could end up with a nice little chunk.

I'm ok with that if everyone else is. Voluntary, of course.

No other mentions of prize donation thus far.

I took my pics Friday, and my weight s (uggh) 375 again.

Its a good thing I like to drink water. Poured out sodas this morning. Remember the Indian with the trash at his feet? It was like that.

My bologna has a first name, its s-a-l-a-d.
