LEO encounter on GUAM.USA

I am a new HCP holer in the great state of TN. I have been going through some of the older posts on this forum and read alot of encounter posts. I want to share a LEO encounter that I had many years ago while I was a Marine stationed on Guam. In 1979, Guam's law allowed for open carry if you had a permit, which I did. It is a very small island (8 miles wide, 32 miles long). The permit allowed to even carry open on public transportation. Thre were 5 military bases on the island and only a couple of recreational ranges. Along with my HCP, I also had a rangemasters card which allowed me to use the range without any other rangemaster. I was traveling from my base to another to go shooting for the day. I had to transfer busses in the middle of town and as I was standing on the street corner waiting, a Guam DPS motorcycle LEO drove by and saw that I had 5 pistols on my person. He quickly made a U turn and approched me. He asked to see my HCP and registration slips for each of my handguns ( they issued registrations for handguns like we do for cars). After he seen that I was in compliance with the law, he made the following comment: " I know that your are legally carrying your firearms, however, I must ask that your put them in your bag until you reach the range". I could not believe what I was hearing. I politely informed him that I would do NO SUCH THING. That in doing so, I would be subject to arrest, loose my permit and also be subject to a courts-martial under the UCMJ. This pissed the LEO off. He got back on his motorcyle and sped off. After I finished shooting for the day. I went back to my post and I got dressed for work. When I reported in I had told my section leader what had happened and he informed me that I should go to the DPS and file a complaint against the officer. So I did. There was a hearing a few days later and the officer was relieved of duty. JUst thought I would share this with you....

I dont know if he had previous issues but he was relieveid of duty. I do know that a JAG rep was there to represent me since I was in the military. And I dont know if me being a Military Policeman had anything to do with it.

the leo saw 5 pistols on you while driving by? im not contesting this, just curious as to where you had them.

Good point ... like some extra long leg rigging ... or maybe a bandolier type of arrangement..? Let me know if you ever want to recreate that visual and get pics!

That's cool. I was actually born in Guam... You don't hear much news from there. Nice place though.

reminds me of a guy I worked with on Fla. He was born there to parents in the military. Me and another guy would tell him he could never be president. ( stupid stuff I know) he would get mad as all heck and yell and scream that we were wrong. I knew we were wrong, like he was ever going to be president anyway. Cracks me up to remember it.

Oh well just thought I would share.

Carry on now.

Howdy, Tatts! :)

I honestly never knew they had handgun carry permits there. It was also a shock to find out that you could hunt deer and hogs there too!

Since when do you have to a natural born citizen to be POTUS? Just ask B. Hussein Obama?

(I am aware of Article II, Section 1 of the US Constitution...I was only kidding, please don't report me to the White House's "flag" website.)
