I have owned Glocks,Sigs,Kahrs,Kimbers and of course my S&W 638 which I intend to to buried with, But While i was At that Whack BK Gun show, noticed 2 things. One, There were alot of Taurus Judges for sale and as much as i love a Model 66, I could not keep my eye off of the 1911's there.Geez I'm so torn. WHAT TO DO?

Another multiple-1911 owner, saying, "1911!" here.

EVERYBODY makes a 1911. Nobody makes M66's. Get the Smith while you can -- the supply is limited.

+1 with enfield!!

I just purchased a nice 66 yesterday. :)

I decided to put a purchase of a 1911 on the back burner.

Too many choices, everyone seems to have one--I don't really want to be like everyone else!

The reason everyone has a 1911 is because they're (still) that good.

As the owner of way more K-frame .357s than 1911s, I say get the 66.

If I could only have one, I'd pick... oh my, this is tough... Ok, let's assume this is a TEOTWAWKI event. I'd have to go with the Model 66. For two reasons.

1. There are no mags to be lost, which would make the 1911 in effect,

a single shot pistol.

2. The Model 66 will fire two different calibers, .38 Spl and .357. Actually, it

will shoot three, now that I think about it. It will also shot .38 S&W which

is not the same as the .38 spl.

That being said, I sure would miss the old 1911 and I would feel just as well armed with it.

You will not be complete without one of each.

Yeah,I know that's right!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Close but no cigar. The .38 S&W Special is based on the .38 Colt cartridge, not the 38 S&W. .38 S&W won't chamber in a .38/.357 handgun but .38 Colt will.

And now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Thanks for straightenin me out! I stand corrected. Actually, I have some .38 S&W and your right it won't fit. :)

1911 first, then the 66 later.

Both would be the ideal choice, but if I had to pick between my 1911 and my .357 (Ruger GP100 in my case, but the 66 is a very nice revolver) there's no contest. Get the revolver.
