H&K P2000sk

I am new here.

I took my class last weekend, applied Thursday for my HCP and am patiently (for now) waiting.

I am trying to find a pistol for EDC. I have been considering the H&K P2000SK and the Kimber Ultra Carry. I have shot the UC, but not the P2000SK. I shot a USPc today and did not care for the grip.

Does anyone know of a shop or range near Knoxville that has one for rent?

Thanks

I've owned both a Kimber Ultra Carry 1911 and HK P2000 SK (in fact just sold both of those guns here). I like the grip of the HK but a lot of folks don't. I have small hands so it fits my hand fine, with my pinky finger resting underneath the grip extension.

Both shot great, so you'll be happy with whichever one you decide to get.

Did you ever shoot the SK with the X-grip extension? If so, did it pinch like on the Baby Glocks? I have smaller hands and the Glocks pinch me.

He should also try the regular P2000. By the time you put the extension on the sk, you might as well try the regular one. And it's tons more comfortable. I looked at the sk and found with the extension, my fingers were really jammed together on the grip and with my pinky under the extension, it's just not comfortable. It reminded me of the Beretta 9000 I used to have with the same issues. When I held the regular P2000, it was perfect.

Hex - Thanks for the input. Here is my thinking for better or worse. Being new to concealed carrying and dressed in a tucked shirt most of the time, I am concerned with the size of the gun I will be carrying. The size of the SK as well as the ability to get the longer grip with the x-grip is intriguing to me. However, I want to make sure that for target practice or other times when I feel like having a longer grip that it will be comfortable.

I've never tried the extension grips, just the one's it comes with. If you are looking for something as a concealed carry and target gun, I'd go with a 3" 1911. Are you wanting to stick with .45 ACP? You can always get a Springfield Amory EMP (9mm 1911). Great guns! (Kimber also makes a line of 9mm 1911's)

I've rarely seen h&k's as rentals anywhere, never in TN other than the auto mp5 at ontarget.

As a former h&k guy I'd really recommend shooting a glock or if it doesn't fit, an m&p... IMO both are better and the price difference alone will pay for enough practice ammo to improve your shooting more than a pricier gun will... and you can rent either just about anywhere.
