ticks?

Country folks have used kerosene (same as diesel fuel) dabbed on their socks and pants cuffs to keep off the ticks for years. Works fine for bank fishing, but not sure about the odor for deer.

Why do they call it common sense, when it's so uncommon? TN Sen. Fred Thompson

Good thread if you like talking about nasty ticks. I use nothing for hunting and have only picked a few off. Always been leary of smell for hunting. You guys have some great products I'd like to try though. Lyme disease runs rampant up here and I don't know many people that haven't had a family member or pet get it. Watch for the "red ring" around a tick bite.

I try to avoid tick areas. Grass is a tick magnet and so are fields and moist wet areas. I hunt high and stick to the beach and oak ridges and can manage to stay away from them. Good luck keeping the nasty things off!

Just wear a leafy bug suit, until the weather turns cold, after a good freeze you should not have to worry about the bugs so much.

I use Permerthrin. Ticks don't bother me as bad as chiggers. for some reason those bastards are horrible around my place. Before I started using Permerthrin I would get a few bits almost every time I went out.

Suckers itch you to death too. KILL THEM ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
