Where to shoot skeet around Memphis?

I want to teach my 11 yr old to shoot skeet. (Although it's been a long time since I've done it myself.)

I don't mind investing in the contraption to throw the clay pigeons if we had a place to go. I don't have a membership to MSSA or really want his first experieces to be "formal". He loves to shoot and I want to introduce him to another fun aspect of being a responsible gun owner.

Does anybody know where I can, legally and with permission from the land owner, go to do this? I am just outside of the Memphis area.

Thanks!

The Shelby County Sheriff's range used to do that when they where south of Walnut Grove. I think they moved north of Walnut Grove, near the penal farm, but not sure. My wife's parents live in Hernando and we are due to go shotgunning as soon as the heat isn't unbearable. It's in the country, without all the country. A lot of space. PM me if you want to arrange something. We'll also be shooting .22, .40, .30-06 or whatever we have ammo for.

Anybody else interested, write me. Not sure if we have a Memphis chapter, but the more shooting buddies, the better.

I'd love to see if we could set up something for some of the memphians. I haven't shot outside in years and miss it.

Yeah... The Willows in Tunica is a nice place. Aside from that, it's either private land or the MSSA.

The SCSO range has always been North of Walnut Grove, at the training acad. The range South of Walnut Grove was run by the County and is now closed.
