Nashville MTA Carry?

I'm probably blind, but their website doesn't mention anything... Does anybody know if carried is allowed on Nashville MTA buses?

I would say it is mandatory.....now whether or not it is prohibited is another matter.

By their policy, Not sure, but as you say the issue is not addressed period on their website.

I ride an MTA/RTA bus every day. As far as I've been able to find out there are no rules against carry. Not that I can test it since carry is quite specifically prohibited at work ...

But hey, I turned a 40 mile commute into a 6 mile commute and I can read during the ride to and from work rather than stress over rush hour.

Yeah, I knew the law allows it.... and I'm curious if 39-17-1359 even applies since it doesn't appear to cover vehicles...

Well it doesn't exclude vehicles either.

It just say property "owned, operated, or managed or under the control" of someone. I would say all 4 apply to the City of Nashville and a MTA bus.

I don't get to Nashville often, and have never really paid attention to the buses when I was there....but are they posted?

No clue... Never rode on one before, but a few of us are talking about running a small event and wondered if we could use the MTA buses while carrying or not.

Yes, if you have a TN HCP, you are allowed to carry a firearm. There are no MTA regulations preventing you from doing so.

Of course, they would prefer you CC, rather than OC. They would rather that other riders not be alarmed by the sight of a gun. Silly, yes, but that's the type of society we happen to live in at the moment.

Correct!

But as I stated earlier, if it were me, I would do my best to CC. But that decision is up to you. You are not required to CC, but if other customers were to complain, you will likely be asked to leave the bus.

I ride the Nashville MTA when I have business to do in the downtown area (as it is much cheaper than parking). I also open carry at all times. I've never had any problems or comments from any driver about my firearm.

Like most people I have encountered while open carrying in Nashville, they could care less as long as you aren't putting the gun in their faces trying to rob them.

That's good to hear. I've never stepped foot on an MTA bus, so I have no personal experience. I got my information from a friend of mine who is an Operations Manager with the MTA.

BTW, MTA is hiring drivers.

$12.68 per hour with two increases in the first 14 months to bring pay to $14.91/hr. Top out pay of $19.37 is reached after 48 months.

You'll need a Class-B CDL (Class B with "P" endorsement), but that is a piece of cake.
