Give me some advice on a trade

I have a Taurus Millenium pro PT111. I hasn't jammed/FTF/FTE through about 350 rounds. However, I don't really care for the sights or the way it just feels in my hand and I am considering trading it for a Hungarian FEG Hi Power clone. I like the way the hi power fits my hand. Does this sound like a decent trade to ya'll?

I have no expertise on the FEG, but do know that Taurus' can have issues, and working with their customer service isn't the easiest thing to do. I had a PT-140 and never had an issue with it through about 500 rounds, but sold it a while back.

Is this your only gun/primary gun? I ask because if you have other guns and just want to try something new, go for it. But if not, I'd hang on to the Taurus, especially if something goes wrong. You can at least get them to work on it. I'm not sure what all is involved if you have an issue with the FEG, and you might be SOL if it breaks.

Just have no experience with FEG.

FEG's are decent guns, I'd say go for it. They are tough little bastards. Hi-Power parts are plenty, if a part breaks you can get it changed. Plus there are a bunch of tutorials to make the trigger feel nice :bowrofl:

ive never much cared for any taurus auto pistol ive ever shot. their revolvers are decent.

i have no eperience with the FEG Hi Power clone althought the HP is a fine gun design. the FEG PA-63 is a decent Mak.

id say go for it. cant be any worse than having a gun you dont like already.

A used pt111 mil-pro should get you $225-250 pretty easily. The gun is probably worth more as a reliable firearm than the cash/trade value you'll get for it. Williams Firesights offer a 3-dot after market option for pretty cheap. May want to check those out. the Hienie straight 8s are a bit weird to get used to. As far as ergs, You can have a little luck with hogue sleeves.

I've owned both, Currently own the PT-111 Pro.

The current PT-111 Pro pistols (Gen 3) have a much better trigger

than the earlier ones.

That is the ONLY positive thing is has over the Hi-Power , IMO.

Well, (except mine is Stainless, but that does really count)

If it were in good shape I'd trade.

The Hi-Power will lasting longer, and be more enjoyable to shoot.

And like said, if it does break, at least you can get parts.

Not to mention all the nice after market add-on available for them.

I say, GO FOR IT.....
