there is a new security company opening down the road from me. i called them and asked about what they offer and such. they do state training for armed as well as unarmed guards. they also place people in jobs as they get the contracts. pretty usual for a security company.

i have worked armed security down in Florida back a few years ago but was wondering about the firearms you are allowed to carry on duty and more specifics about pay based on what you do etc. i know alot of this is dictated by the contracts but was hoping that someone here would be able to give me more info as the lady i talked to kept pushing the classes and didnt know too many specifics.

Hello Neighbor,

I'd say give Guns and Leather (in Greenbrier) a call - I am pretty sure they give the class and will likely be more forthcoming (and accurate, imho) with info than the person you spoke to. If they don't give the class, try ASP in Joelton - they give handgun classes and I am also pretty sure they do Armed Guard training.

the one i called is VIP Security over here off Dover Rd. its just a banner in a front yard so i kind of expected what i got from them.

i was just thinking about an easy side job.

From what they said to you (reading between the lines) it appears that they're focusing more on being a school that might provide a job than a true security company that also provides training. I'd be suspect of the quality of the training they provide and their ability to give you a decent paying job.

3pugguy's advice is the better way to go.
