I don't think the HK45 is as large as the USP 45. I may be wrong, but it doesn't feel or look that way at all. It's only slightly larger than the M&P 9/40 full size in both length of slide and length of grip.

In fact, last night I learned by sheer luck that the HK45 fits into a DeSantis leather OWB holster that I bought to fit my M&P but ended up not caring for. So I technically have a holster that I could carry the HK45 in if I wanted to.

They are a fair bit smaller than the USP .45 full size model. Dave, you can come by and do some comparison shots sometime if you want.

Maybe sometime this week. If not, it will be at the TGO shoot @ Guns and Leather on the 30th.

Hey, I'll be glad to test it out for you before then, whatdya say? :)

I'll be at G&L as well, and have a request.....could you bring the Kimber Warrior?? :( It's on my list and I've never shot one.

They are the same size, just the HK45 is a good bit skinnier.

Otherwise barrel and grip are the same length. I think cutting some of the grip out for the finger grooves changes the size perception.

Welcome to the HK Club. My favorite is still the P7 M8, which I have now carried more than any other pistol I have ever owned, recently passing the 228 in time served. It is w/o question the most accurate defense pistol I have ever shot.

My only complaint of HK is the high bore sight radius of the USP, Hk's and P30. I might pick up a P30 anyway, with the LEO trigger. I think you pretty much get what you pay for, HK is the premiere, IMO, combat pistol maker out there. They are ready to go from day 1.

I have found they surpass the quality of nearly any of the popular manuf out there. Some complain of the price, and it effects their market share, but again you get what you pay for. To me the price is not much of a hinderence, none of them cost nearly what my Over/Unders cost. And in fact most people spend the same amount, they just buy more guns. I'd rather have less guns, and more of what I need and like.

Very nice! I really liked my P30 except for the DA/SA trigger. Cocked and locked, this gun should be a delight. Let us know how it shoots.

I converted my P-30 to LEM, and now, it is all I want to carry these days. It was a pretty easy swap, you just order a few parts from HK for a P2000. There is a write up on HKpro from Montrala it has the parts needed, and the instructions.

I've toyed with the idea of doing the LEM conversion to the HK45. It's easy to swap back if I don't like it. Only problem is, I had a P2000 with the LEM trigger a few years ago and pretty much hated it.

Who knows... I might give it a try again.

Are you carrying C&L currently?

I'm not carrying it at all since I don't have a rig for it yet, but no I will be carrying it with the hammer down in DA mode.

Ah, I see.

I had never carried C&L until I got my USP9c, but I'm kinda liking it (says the guy who has never owned a 1911 :hat: )

Believe it or not, the one thing I'm not super crazy about with the HK45 is the thumb safety. I kind of wish it didn't have that. Maybe just a decocker button on the back of the slide, like the P2000 has.

Loved the LEM in my USPc, hated it in the P2000. The trigger reset on the p2000 was horrible.

I did some research. Apparently there is a kit composed of some P2000 and USP parts that make a direct fit for installing the LEM system into the HK45. You can send your complete firearm to HKUSA and have them do the work for close to $200 w/S&H. Crazy high price.

Ordering the parts kit and doing it yourself seems to be a no-brainer. I did the light LEM conversion on a P2000 so it's not rocket surgery.

Speaking of, there are also apparently a half dozen or so variations of the LEM system. Off the top of my head...

  • Regular LEM
  • Intermediate LEM
  • Light LEM
  • Combat LEM
  • Competition LEM
  • Two parts vodka one part lime LEM... er, wait...
