i'm thinking he's using a .22

He had a bad flinch that he needs to get rid of.(When he pulls trigger and nothing happens). The recoil looks too be more than a .22 to me.

Glad he is doing well with it.

i'm worried that no one, even the SO, was saying anything as he ran with his finger in the guard and that the gun wasn't locking back. not to mention a 5 yr old running a race holster

the brass was pretty big, and the mags looked like it could have been a .45

It may be .38 super loaded down. Pretty funny how he had to use both hands to pull the trigger! He's going to do well as he gets older.

Limited guns are built not to lock back almost 100% of the time so that could be the reason. I didn't see a finger in the trigger guard. You must have better eyes than me. But that is very young.

It's a single stack for sure. When you look at the mags.
