Thoughts to ponder:

It has been said the greatest volume of sheer brainpower in one place

occurred when Jefferson dined alone...

HOW DID JEFFERSON KNOW THAT...

When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall

become as corrupt as Europe.

Thomas Jefferson

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are

willing to work and give to those who would not.

Thomas Jefferson

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes.

A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.

Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government

from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of

them.

Thomas Jefferson

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too

much government.

Thomas Jefferson

No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.

Thomas Jefferson

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear

arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in

government.

Thomas Jefferson

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of

patriots and tyrants.

Thomas Jefferson

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which

he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:

' I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties

than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to

control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation,

the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive

the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the

continent their fathers conquered..'

HOW DID JEFFERSON KNOW? He was educated, not trained.

Jefferson was gifted with a strong intellect, excellent comprehension and a love of reading. His personal library was so vast that a portion of it (6000 volumes if I remember right) went to start the Library of Congress. It's amazing to me that someone would have so many volumes that they actually read.

An interesting website on the Founding Fathers is WallBuilders | Presenting America's forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on our moral, religious, and constitutional heritage. where they have a lot of original writings scanned and you can read them for free. I am not affiliated with them in any way, I'm just a fan.

Our founding fathers had suffered the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune and cast them aside.

Our founding fathers knew enough to know that they didn't know everything but that above all else it is the free people of a country that will keep the country free.

We have given up our freedoms too many times that our government now thinks they have a right just to take them.

Thanks. I always like re-reading some of those quotes.

Thomas Jefferson is the Libertarians favorite founding father. many of our current beliefs and policies come from him. BTW they didn't listen to him in his own time either. He was too"radical."

While he definitely a wise man, we have to remember that liberalism/socialism/tyranny is not new. We neither invent nor create anything that hasn't been tried before. We just change the name and believe in our narcissist nature we can make work what has always failed. That we can make right what has proved to be false.

That is why the founding fathers stated things like "we believe these truths to be self evident". Meaning absolute truth that exist apart from man and govern man.
