Red Dawn Remake to be released in 2010!

Dont know if this has been discussed, but it looks like one of the best movies of all time is being remade. Red Dawn. This time - its the Chinese! (and of course, the Russians join in )

Reports say its going to be uber-realistic a la Bourne Identity, and will be big big budget. Tom Cruise's kid is in this one.. and that dude from the new Star Trek.. lets hope they dont screw this one up.

You just KNOW there will be some jab at Bush, or some scapegoat like "The chinese invaded because of global warming" or some bull like they dreamed up for Pearl Harbor.

I always have hope, but then expect to be disappointed. The first movie had some seriously dark undertones that I hope can get transferred to the new one. Hollywood's current version of "dark" is someone getting chopped up a la all the saw and final destination sequels.

I can tell just by reading each characters brief synopsis that this new Red Dawn is going to be a big, steaming pile of crap. A movie this good deserves either a shot for shot remake or to be left alone.

Hell, I made a Vanna White comment to the kid giving a presentation today at work, and maybe 25% of the room laughed. The rest gave me blank stares.

It would be nice if Swaze could make a cameo in this Red Dawn.

Hearing that it has the same writer gives me some hope, but after seeing a wimpy Stonewall Jackson in Gods and Generals , "apes are people too" in Planet of the Apes, the abysmal septic scum that was Pearl Harbor, etc., I am not getting excited yet.
