1st Look: Taurus PT-145 Millennium Pro 3rd Gen.

Well I finally got my Taurus Millennium Pro in .45 today and I have to say - I really like it. Its feels great and is so balanced in my hand. Its only 22 ounces but still has a real "meaty" feel to it. It fits great in my front pocket with almost no bulging and slipped nicely in the SOB holster too.

I haven't shot it yet, but I broke it down and took some pictures. Once cleaned up and some time with it at the range, I am looking forward to this being my EDC gun (I travel and work in Memphis alot). Enjoy the pics!

I have pretty small hands and this gun makes them look big! This is one compact pistol, especially for a .45

Love the Heinie sights

Holy packing grease Batman!

Conventional groove and land so I should be good to go to shoot my reloads. This is a 3rd gen gun so any frame cracking problems from previous editions should be ancient history.

So far - I am pleased. I am hoping to come back here with a good range report, but I'm going to be in Clarksville all day tomorrow so likely wont get to go shoot until this weekend. Overall - the gun feels good, and the price was waaaaayyy right. Tom over at Guns for America really did me right and threw in some nice extras into the sale. He really went out of his way for me today. Kudos to him.

Thanks guys - another happy gun purchase. :D

Thats a sweet little pistol.........one of the guys on here (tnpanscraper) had one that I shot. Nice little pistols. I think his was the 24/7 version though if I remember right.....not sure what the difference is. I noticed you have some nice pens on the desk........you need one of these bottom pens!

I had one of those in .40 S&W, and it had a little bite to it. It was a pretty good gun, never had any issues, but the built in magazine extension was constantly pinching my fingers (probably user error more so than the gun) when shooting, so I got rid of it.

Congrats!

Im very happy with my PT 140 and you will be happy with the 45 , only thing is dont be discouraged if the mag wont fill up easy, it took me several tries to get mine to loadup they are very stiff . but a great EDC . good choice.

Well - today at the range was a success. VERY little recoil to this .45. I am amazed at the balance and the DA/SA trigger pull is beautiful. Overall I am very pleased and think this will be a great EDC gun.

Being a short barrel (3.25") - I am really going to need to practice if I want to hit anything "long" range.. I put about 150 rounds though the barrel today. Here was my last grouping at 75 feet from a Weaver Stance.

and a video from Owl Hollow today showing the movement of the gun.

What a great little piece! Only issue I found is some residual crud in the barrel grooves.. I cleaned a lot when I came home w/ not much progress on the grooves, but am now convinced this is leftover from the factory firing. I'm soaking the barrel right now on solvent.. so hopefully that will breakdown whatever is in the grooves.

I would definitely recommend this gun.

Congrats on getting a nice gun. I have always liked the PT145. I don't know how you can pocket carry it, though!

Fit's in normal size Kaki type pockets. Generic holster from Ebay $20. Great pocket pistal. Low felt recoil (almost pleasent)! Well balanced, very accurate.

I was going to say the same thing! (but thought it would sound weird) - glad someone else feels the same way. Since the gun is so well balanced, the recoil feels like a firm handshake and certainly is pleasant. :)

Ive got a pocket holster made for it on order - I found it will fit nicely in the front pockets of my work pants (dress slacks) and also the inner pocket of my suit/sport coats. IWB not really an option for me at work.

I just need to keep practicing with it, I'm deadly with it now at up to 50 ft, but much further (as you can see from 75" target) and my groupings are pretty wide. I'm not used to shooting such a small gun.

I take it you are an owner? How long have you had yours?

So inside self defense range, say 25 feet, you'll be downright surgical. She'll put a hole where you tell her to put a hole. I'm a big fan the the mil-pros. When you hit the 200-250 mark, it'll really open up for you. The minimal recoil you're feeling now will really lighten up.

good to hear - practice makes perfect, eh? Love the trigger pull on the PT, but I need to work on my breathing.

I purchased a Hoppes lead removal kit to attack the tiny bits of crud in the barrel grooves.. I only shot 150 rounds of FMJ stuff in the first firing, so I am assuming this is leftover from the Factory firing. Not a big issue, but I am a little OCD about my barrells :). Did you notice any barrel fouling when you got yours?

I snapped a pic of it (gotta love Macro photography, eh?)

Very nice buy. I like the Taurus models and the price range they come in. Plus lifetime warranty (no matter how bad it can be sometimes) is a great benefit. ;)

Great photos too!

Cool! I handled a PT145 when I was looking for my carry gun and I have to admit,if the Walther wouldn't had been at such a nice price, the PT145 would have went home with me.The PT145 is going to be my next purchase. Thanks for the review.
