Help put some glass atop my 10/22

I'm new to the world of scopes. I can use them but have never bought one or owned one. When I read the power and stuff, I see gibberish. I have a 35 year old 10/22 that I would like to start using for longer shots at the range. What would be a good CHEAPISH scope to throw atop the Ruger for some 25-50 yard fun?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I had a Bass Pro RedHead 3X9-32 on a Remington 597. It was boring. It would shoot dime size groups all day long at 25 yards. They are about $40.

I think I have changed my mind. I went and looked at a bunch of scopes this weekend and most of the ones that I looked out seemed like they would be too big for my little carbine. I decided to get a cheap truglo red dot to throw on top of it.

I have a Bushnell Trophy Red Dot on my "Tacticool" 10/22 and it seems just the right size for the carbine. Grandkids love it!
