I want to show this idiot just how many HCP holders there are in this state. Hell, he was standing next to me not knowing i was carrying (i dont broadcast). I just need some facts to back up my argument (Gun Carried Into Dem Congressman's Town Hall -- But Did Not Pose Any Threat | TPMDC)

Oh I believe you, parrothead. Its all the uses of the word "fishy" that needed a response. The stats are out there and I could care less how you plan on using them...they're in our favor.

Also,

94.637% of all statistics are made up, anyways.

help me with a discussion on handgun rights. I want to prove to this fool that guns don't kill people :)

IMHO, Tennessee HCP records are irrelevent in such an argument. If the debate is over guns in general, the correct statistics are the number of guns owners in the country as a whole. Correlate that with the number of fatal instances of a gun being used by law-abiding citizens.

You may find that it's more deadly to get into your car and drive to work.

BTW, I've been through this. When an anti-gunner's mind is made up, you can argue until you're blue in the face. Same goes for conservative vs. liberal, etc.

Just take'em out shooting!

In addition to the link provided by the OP, go to the local library and talk to the research librarian and tell him/her what you are working on - that is a great resource we forget about in this "internet age". Research librarians ROCK!

I am a (and have been since a kid) a big fan of the public library and think we overlook them in our Google-ness. Clarksville-Montgomery County has a nice library (personal story: as a teen ager, I worked in the former department store that occupied the building the library is in now).

$3.5 Million a year for the State to issue permits? Interesting data. Good thing they made nearly $5 Million or it would take longer than an average of 60 days to get one.
