Lamar probably doesn't have the balls to face his constituents for various reasons.

I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire..... unless I was pissing lighter fluid.

I got this email the other day....

Friend --

All throughout August, our members of Congress are back in town. Insurance companies and partisan attack groups are stirring up fear with false rumors about the President's plan, and it's extremely important that folks like you speak up now.

So we've cooked up an easy, powerful way for you to make a big impression: Office Visits for Health Reform.

All this week, OFA members like you will be stopping by local congressional offices to show our support for insurance reform. You can have a quick conversation with the local staff, tell your personal story, or even just drop off a customized flyer and say that reform matters to you.

We'll provide everything you need: the address, phone number, and open hours for the office, information about how the health care crisis affects your state for you to drop off (with the option of adding your personal story), and a step-by-step guide for your visit.

According to our records, you live near Rep. Jim Cooper's office in Nashville, TN.

Sign up now to visit Rep. Jim Cooper's office in Nashville this week.

(Not your representative, or think there might be another office that's easier for you to get to? Click here to find a different office.)

As you've probably seen in the news, special interest attack groups are stirring up partisan mobs with lies about health reform, and it's getting ugly. Across the country, members of Congress who support reform are being shouted down, physically assaulted, hung in effigy, and receiving death threats. We can't let extremists hijack this debate, or confuse Congress about where the people stand.

Office Visits for Health Reform are our chance to show that the vast majority of American voters know that the cost of inaction is too high to bear, and strongly support passing health reform in 2009.

Don't worry if you've never done anything like this before. The congressional staff is there to listen, and your opinion as a constituent matters a lot. And if you bring a friend, you'll have more fun and make an even greater impact.

Click below to sign up for an Office Visit for Health Reform:

Organizing for America | BarackObama.com | Schedule an Office Visit for Health Reform

Wherever you live, these visits matter: Many representatives are pushing hard toward reform, and they are taking a lot of heat from special interests. They deserve our thanks and need our support to continue the fight. But those who are still putting insurance companies and partisan point-scoring ahead of their constituents must know that voters are watching -- and that we expect better.

Earlier this week, the President wrote that "this is the moment our movement was built for" and asked us all to commit to join at least one event this month. This is the way to answer that call, and rise to the challenge of this moment together.

Thank you for going the extra mile when it matters the most,

Mitch

Sign Up to Drop By a Local Office

Use the form to the right to sign up to drop by your local congressional district office and show your support for health insurance reform.

Choose a day and time to sign up this week -- even though you won't have any meeting scheduled with office staff, we want to have someone at each office throughout the day all this week.

After you sign up, we’ll provide you with all the materials and guidance you'll need for a successful visit.

I'd rather they call me a racist. LOLOLOLOL

Just heard Gordon's having a public meeting in Murfreesboro Monday night....got a lot of complaints about the phone thing.

I'm sure a lot of folks who hate health will show up to protest.

HCA's only offering $50....I'd go and protest for $100, but refuse to work cheap.

The libs out in Sacramento and Berkeley are offering $325 to $550 dollars a week to prop up the health care bill. You could try there. They'll even tell you what to say. I'm not sure how much the SEIU is paying to beat up opponents of the bill. It's probably decent money though. You might try them too.:)

"Alot of folks that hate health"

Ralph...check your browser settings...this ain't democratic underground dot com. We're Americans, we like the capitalist system. You need healthcare, you don't have insurance, go to the ER. If that doesn't work, then work hard, study, work some more and get a good job with healthcare benefits. Is the system perfect, no. Want it to get much much worse...let the goverment take control of it.

People who need help, get help. Now the gov is pandering to those who DEMAND help that in some cases they don't deserve.

Last time I looked this was "Tennessee Gun Owners". I live in Tennessee and own a bunch of guns...so, what's the problem? Someone so secure in his misconceptions as you shouldn't be afraid to listen to a contrary opinion. I know that's the conservative way....if you can't shout 'em down, tell 'em to go away....and you call yourself an American. You must truly love the capitalist system....middle class folks who love health insurance companies are like battered wives who can't leave their husbands because they "love" them....is it a Stockholm syndrome thing? Equating capitalism with patriotism in 2009 is the height of folly. In this world economy, most corporations of any size only have allegiance to profit. I'm a capitalist, and I recognize like that Republican icon Teddy Roosevelt that unregulated capitalism is a threat, not only to the country and the "general welfare" but to themselves as last fall's economic collapse demonstrated.

I'm glad you have a job that provides health insurance, though it would probably be good for your soul to lose that job...maybe outsourced by your beloved corporation.... and see what us independent contractors have to deal with....you might grow a little of that dreaded empathy. You seem to feel immune from being dropped for getting a serious illness. It happens to a lot of people. There's a saying...."a conservative is a liberal who's been mugged." By the same token, you might find that a liberal is a conservative who's facing a medical bankruptcy.

Which Fox host told you that?

The health insurance industry is paying 1.4 million a day on propaganda.

I hope the good guys are at least trying to keep up.

Health Care is a trust issue pure and simple. Most just dont trust the govt. to provide good timely service. When it takes 4 hours to get a drivers license its understandable.

Cool Ralph, I will quit my job so the chosen one can pay for me to be a big boy.

He will pay my mortgage, my health care, the 500.00 dollars it just cost me to put my kids back in school, my truck payments, and hell, maybe he will consolodate the small credit card debt and gimme the government mastercard like the one in his wallet...you know the one, it has no limit, and its a gold, black, platinum camo pattern and says "In Obama We Trust" (because lord knows we cant say God anymore)...I bet if I get really pissed, I can demand he sleep with my wife, and be the father to my grandchildren.

OK, I will stop being a smart ass...but tell me, since he took office, besides giving the order to shoot the pirates, what GOOD thing has he done so far?

Hey Ralphy, this isn't from Fox, it's an ad on Craiglist.

Make social change - Help Pass Obama's Health Care Reform!!!

Quote: "Make social change - Help Pass Obama's Health Care Reform!!!" "Earn $350-500 per week."

This is just one location, they're running this ad in several places.

John Tanner (8th Congressional District, West Tn.) announced one (that I have heard of) telephone conference. Local citizens and talk radio hosts started protesting this "cowards way out". He scheduled a town hall meeting in Dickson for Aug. 28th @ 11:00am. Of course, this meeting occurs when most folks are at work and it's in a town as far away from his population center of Union City/Jackson area as he could get and still stay in the 8th District.

Damn it Papa, stop using facts. Ralph is not interested in facts. He has shown it time and time and time and time and time...well, you get the point.

Besides, don't you know that only conservatives are interested in money. We're all money grubbing whores. Every last one of us. Like George Soros: there's an icon of conservatism, right? And he's filthy stinking rich. Of course he didn't make a damn dime of that money by trampling on the little guy, because as the omniscient Ralph G. Briscoe has so brilliantly pointed out, no liberal would EVER do that. Only us EEEEEEEVIIIIIIIIIILLLLLLLL conservatives.

And of course, the first ones in line to sign up for this wonderful, life-saving, not-a-damn-person-is-going-to-profit-from-this-bill health care option will undoubtedly be Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and of course Ralphie boy. I on the other hand, have actually had a taste of socialized medicine, and I think I'll pass, thanks.

...I bet if I get really pissed, I can demand he sleep with my wife, and be the father to my grandchildren.

Now we're getting to the crux of the matter. Jeez that's sick, but that racial/sexual crap is at the root of so much Obama hatred. Barack isn't Mandingo for crying out loud.

OK, I will stop being a smart ass...but tell me, since he took office, besides giving the order to shoot the pirates, what GOOD thing has he done so far?

No point in answering you because most of the good things...trying to fix our broken healthcare system for example....you are convinced are bad.

From the Obamaphobes' point of view, any success he has is bad because it will help him get re-elected.

The stock market's way up from when he took office.

The stimulus has averted a 2nd Great depression, etc.

His election certainly brought all the wingnuts and haters out from under their rocks where they can be seen in their full glory for what, and who they are. That's ultimately a good thing, though there will no doubt be some senseless violence along the way.

White men have run the show throughout our history

and a lot of them are in a full-blown panic that their monopoly on power is ending. It is ending....that's an unavoidable mathematical fact in this Democracy--they're the minority now and will be increasingly so in the future. All the anger and acting out....the teabaggers, the birthers, those who disrupt public meetings,....that's the death throes of the old guard....the last pathetic skirmish of the civil war.

The nation will survive, and improve, the Constitution will remain in place, the world will not end, and in a few years everyone will wonder what the hell all the current controversy was about.

Why bring up white or black in a town hall meeting thread? :)
