They will cave, most likely. The article in the paper mentioned how the Conservation Committee wanted guns banned. Hope I'm wrong, but from the tone of the article, doubt the County folks will stand firm - and Civitan park is county but in city limits as noted in the article.

After all, Clarksville is such a safe place, dontha know?

There is a similar vote in Collierville, outside of Memphis tonight. If I was not sick, I would go. I went ahead and sent an email to one of the aldermen. Hopefully, we can get this stupid 'opt out' garbage changed in a couple of years with a different governor and legislature.

Anybody know if the public will be allowed to speak?

Don't know but can't go so I have not asked, either - the article mentioned supporters at an ealier meeting. That infers to me they will entertain comments this evening.

I hope to be pleasantly surprised by the County. It is moot to me personally, as I don't go to the local parks, but would be nice to see this county stand up and be counted in support of a right for those who do bother to get an HCP and go to the parks with kids and family and should be allowed to be armed for protection (if I had kids, I'm sure I would be more likely to go to a park).

I went. Guns in parks was not on agenda... no mention of it. Meeting lasted less than 30 minutes. Appeared to be a public show meeting with all discussion and decisions had been arrived at at the earlier meeting. Don't know what ever happened to the Sunshine Law.

Sorry for posting false info... that's what I get for believing what I read on the front page of the Leaf Comical.

Will maintain oversight on this bunch.

Montgomery County Conservation Commission allows , beginning Sept. 1 '09, HCP holder to carry only handguns in COUNTY parks. This does not apply to CITY parks. The city of Clarksville has banned all weapons including HCP holders carrying in CITY parks. Looks like the Conservation Comission rules. Good job.
