I am in the Nashville area and need some gunsmithing services.

I received a Model 94 Winchester 30/30 from my Great-Grandfather when he passed away year before last. He bought the rifle several (more than 20) years ago. While I was on active duty I took it with me out to Ft Bliss TX and a buddy and I did some work on it.

The rifle was in bad shaped and we cleaned it up and did a cold reblue. We also refinished the wood work. As the years passed grand-dad did not use or maintian it much so all of the metal is in less than good shape now. The wood still looks good but I would like to get it reblued and cleaned up. Also when we put it back together i guess something was not right because it now has about a 20lb trigger.

Does anybody have any suggestions on where I can take it within a reasonable distance from north Nashville to get it reblued and the trigger adjusted or what ever it needs?

This will end up being a rifle that I will pass down and as far as I am concered will never leave the family. I want to keep it in operating condition as long as I can.

I'm not sure if he can help you with the finish work, but talk to Jeff Walle up at Guns N Leather. I dealt with him Friday, and he's a great guy. I'm sure he can take care of the trigger issue, and if he doesn't do refinishing I'm sure he knows someone that does.

Jeff stopped doing metal refinish work. However, if you call him he can tell you some exellent places to take it.

Outside of that, the trigger work he could do in his sleep I'm sure.

If you have a bit of patience, Guntroll is a gunsmith and veteran who just moved from Colorado to the Coopertown area last week or so. I don't know if he's found a job here yet and might appreciate the opportunity to get in some work.

Just be advised Coopertown is a well known "speed trap" around here. Be really careful going in and out of there. :P

Jeff does great work. He's worked on a few of my guns and I wouldn't hesitate to use him again.

I have sent a couple of hours (total) with Jeff talking about different subjects. I will most likley let him take care of the work but I am not sure if I should get it donw before or after the refinish job.

Be advised that the Mod. 94 Winchester receiver will not blue correctly with the hot caustic process. It will be sort of a purple color. I have sucessfully blued one using the rust blueing method. This process is easy to do but is labor intensive.
