Hey everyone, I am pretty new here. The name is Drew. Sorry to the mods if this is in the wrong section. Here's my intro thread:

http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/new-member-introductions/25323-hello-east-tn-nashville.html

My folks live in East TN, but I'm going back to college at Vanderbilt and living on campus. I'd like to keep my guns in Nashville, but I can't keep them in my dorm room (fascists). I can keep them with the campus police, but it's a hassle with all the red tape.

Point being, I would appreciate it if any of you who live in Nashville wouldn't mind keeping my guns (one rifle, one revolver, maybe one shotgun) at your place this fall, winter, and spring. I have locks and cases.

I'm pretty broke, but we can work out something regarding compensation. Maybe I can change your oil (if you provide tools and supplies) or do some work on your house.

I

will be trustworthy.

will not be using them too often.

will be flexible with regard to picking them up when I do use them.

won't call you in the middle of the night (exception: zombie invasion).

You

will be trustworthy.

live in a relatively safe place in or near Nashville that is legal to keep guns.

keep my guns secure.

don't touch 'em unless I'm there (exception: zombie invasion. But I'll be headed your way in that case anyway).

Any takers?

Thanks so much!

Update:

Also, if you could hang onto a few mags and a few boxes of ammo for me, that'd be great.

Maybe I can give you some of my brass if you reload or want to sell it. (.308 / 7.62 x 51, .357, maybe .38 Special).

No offense here, but really? you joined a board to ask strangers to hold your guns?

Wow...pretty trusting.

Not to say there is anyone on this board to worry about, but still..you got more in ya than I do...

good luck!

No offense taken.

That's not the only reason I joined. I've been reading this forum for a while, and I think I can learn a lot here and give some back.

Maybe I'm a little naive, but if they trust me enough to let me know where their house is, maybe I can trust them enough to hold onto my guns. If someone does want to do it, it'd be great if other forum members would verify that they are legit.

Open to alternative suggestions... I could check if a gun shop will hold onto them for me, I guess. If nobody wants to, I'll figure something out.

Thanks a bunch.

if a gun shop holds them, they are technically supposed to run TICS on you each time you take them out of there, which also means $10 each time.

Regarding the revolver, you could always get a safe-deposit box. They are fairly cheap to rent. I work at a financial institution and we are not allowed to know what you put in those boxes. So you could put virtually anything in them.

Here's my .02, Go to the middle tennessee TGO shooting event this month at owl hollow, meet some guys, show them your respectful and serious about this maybe see if one of them will do it. Letting someone "feel you out" could help immensly. I can usually tell if a person is questionable on the first 2 sencences out of their mouth. I wouldnt invest in a storage building myself but it could be a possibility for you. Is there a way to park off campus and SECURELY LOCK your handgun in the car?

Problem resolved. Somebody here messaged me and offered to hang on to them for me.

Thanks so much to everyone who messaged me and also to everybody who posted on this thread. Thanks for the advice.

I appreciate it a lot and look forward to meeting y'all. I am going to try to make it to the Oct. 17 meetup.

@ghooge: I don't have a car lockbox, but that's a good idea... i might have to invest in one for the future.

Hats off for being a Vandy student that knows how to change their own oil and swing a hammer! You're certainly a minority these days! :D
