5.11 Bags

Well, I need a new bag. I've used my North Face one now for about 4 years for school, camping, Bonnaroo, and travel. I've been looking at the new 5.11 tactical bags and think they would last a lot longer than my old North Face one and was wondering if anyone owned them and could tell me how well they liked them. The two I was looking at are the Rush 24 and Rush 72. I kinda wish they made a Rush 48 because it seems as though the 72 will be too big, while the 24 will be too small. Again, I am looking for something that I can use for school while it's going on, then camping, shooting, Bonnaroo, whatever. If you happen to have any pictures wearing either of the two, it's probably help me decide which is best.

My wife and I have the 24 for Bug out bags and you'd be surprised how much you can fit in there. I have more than I really need in mine and can fit more.

I think the 24 would be a good size for you, but if you just want the extra space go with the 72. They are sturdy and EXTREMELY well built. Can't say enough good things honestly.

You might also consider as an alternative brand, Maxpedition bags.

I'll be honest bro, I haven't been that impressed with the Max backpacks as far as space/durability. It's either really durable, but too small or not that rigid but has alot of space.

The 5.11 bag is much more bang for the buck. I'll let you check mine out one day and you'll see what I mean.

You had that folding backpack right? Merlin?

IIRC those are very light weight so they can be stow able in tight spaces and the material reflects that.

My backpack is the Condor II and I keep about 500 rounds of .40 in it. It keeps it's form, is sturdy and all the stitches have remained. Zippers work very well. My backpack has a inside zippable net that I stow loose ammo, an extra magazine, and a speedloader in. Mine also has the compartment behind the main compartment that can hold either a camel back or a velcro'd holster for concealed carry.

I take a look at you 5.11 next time. Might just have to watch what kinda stuff you get

The Merlin is good, but it's not a distance travel pack. Straps are too thin and it has no actual rigid shape.

I like my Pygmy Falcon, but it's just to small. The 5.11 bag is really where it was at for me.
