Hey, on the offhanded chance that anyone but me finds sharks interesting, at 9:00 EST Discovery is airing a show called " Blood in the Water" about a series of attacks off the New Jersey shore that was the basis for the novel and movie we remember as Jaws.

I was 9 years old when I saw this movie. It was my families first trip to Myrtle Beach. Our first evening there it rained and we decided to go see the original "Walking Tall" about Buford Pusser, it was sold out so we decided on a movie called 'Jaws" instead. I not only would not go in the ocean, I wouldn't even get in the pool or take a freiken bath it scared me so bad..hence my interest in sharks I guess ??

While I'm about over Shark documentaries, I'm right there with you on Jaws. Remember seeing it in the theater when it came out and still get the heebie jeebies thinking about dude's eyeball hanging out of it's socket in the sunken boat.

Ive been watching shark week all week. I never really thought any thing about sharks being close to the beach, I knew they were there but just didnt think about them. Thats until I caught a black tip reef shark while I was surf fishing in Gulf Shores. Also when I was in Gulf Shores back in July were we amberjack fishing and a guy got an 80lb'er about 10ft from the surface when a 10-12ft tiger shark came up and bit that big amberjack in half in one bite. It was such a clean cut it looked like a surgen had cut it. They gots some sharp teeth.

I love shark week, or shows the revolve around the ocean. But I sure do hate it when I'm out in the gulf and thinking about them swimming around me.
