So...

Would it sound appealing to anyone here if TGO were to start co-organizing and co-sponsoring a series of quarterly TGO Gun Shows somewhere centrally located and within an hour's driving distance to about five major cities / metropolitan areas here in the Southeastern United States?

And by gun shows I mean kick-ass events unlike most any gun shows you've already been to. More along the lines of scaled-down quarterly SHOT shows for the everyman, where you could find dozens of premium vendors selling cool guns and gear, factory representatives, some learning sessions and activities for the kids and rest of the family.

Would something like that sound pretty good to anyone?

I think that is a fantastic idea, I had been thinking of how great it would be if someone were to promote a show this fall in the Smoky Mtn area. You not only have several venues to choose from but also the added draw of the tourism and the added crowds which are around because of the leaves changing

I might add that we're thinking about ways to provide certain perks to TGO Benefactors and TGO Vendors at these shows as well. Say for an example... a hospitality suite with snacks and soft drinks where TGO Benefactors could meet & greet and possibly even rub elbows with industry insiders and things like that.

The on-site clinics might cover things like building your own AR15 rifle, self-defense tactics workshops, etc. :stare:

I went to a gold miners show once and they had an industry pro there that gave a clinic about metal detectors. I learned more about metal detectors in one hour than I could have learned in months on the internet. Plus I didn't have to wade through all the B.S. to find out what I needed to know.

Getting to fondle the lastest toys would be great, but the clinics would be the main attraction for me.

Oh and holsters. If some of the better holster makers were there with dummy guns so you could try before you buy that would be awesome.

That is a wonderful idea. I am a little tired and worn by the shows that I've attended in the past year or so, and this is a breath of fresh air. I would love to attend, and if volunteers are needed for support, I'd be happy to offer a weekend day to that, as well.

I look forward to this getting off of the ground.

That would be great! Especially if they would sell stuff that I cant buy at the average gun store here in Nashville. I get tired of seeing the same old stuff at the shows.

I'm in, if you could get someone from the Beanie Baby Society for a lecture. No seriously it sounds like a great idea and I will support however I can.

Frightening. The words "Beanie Babies" were thrown around frequently during a war-gaming session that I was involved with on this. :usa:

I'm for any alternative to RK Shows...........but it sounds like a great plan too.

That sounds like a great lead in to another question...

What do you completely and utterly dislike about any of the current gun show circuits out there?

Feel free to list as many complaints as you want. Those of us who are involved in organizing this really want to know what areas suck about other shows so that we can make this one completely different.

So far this group is taking a very no-holds barred approach to organizing these shows. They want it to be absolutely over the top in every good way possible.
