Jay Crowder Elite Custom Guns in Sevierville.

I am sending a Springfield to him for some custom work and was just wondering if anyone knew him or his reputation? I have seen a couple of guns he has done and they look sharp. But he seems to be a small shop and not much info out there on him. From what I gathered he used to work for Para when their headquarters were in Sevierville. Apparently they moved and he didn't. So far he has been very helpful in getting eveything set up and ironing out what I want done and such. I was just wondering if anyone over there in the Smokies had any personal knowledge.

In my opinion you will not find a better gun smith than Jay. He did a trigger job and installed a magwell on my Springer loaded. He will offer options for you that will save you money. He has also corrected some mistakes I did for no or small service charges. He knows the 1911.

Great, I was pretty confident in what I had found. But it just makes it better knowing someone on here knew him. Just waiting on the Brownell's delivery and off it goes. Thanks

I have heard nothing but good reports about his work from those who have used his services.

I know I'm responding to something from 2009, but I just happened to stumble onto it.

During the ten years I was a VP for Para-Ordnance, one of my jobs was to manage our Service Center in Sevierville TN.

Jay was our lead gunsmith and was excellent at his work.  I would not hesitate to use him if I needed repair or custom work done on a handgun of mine. He is also a fine human being and a pleasure to know.

Jay is awesome, he has worked on two of my 1911s that I have had problems with.  Now they run flawlessly.  Communication is great with him and he is cost is very reasonable.
