Parts for my refinishing oven have started to arrive!

I am way behind on this but I owe my homeslice and all around good-dude "Mike" a big thank you for donating a cabinet to the cause. The cabinet he provided will be perfect for building an oven out of, large enough to handle rifle barrels and such.

:)

Other parts have started to arrive such as the programmable thermostat control that will keep the oven running reliably at the appropriate temperature(s). I am waiting on the insulation and heating elements, but other than that... I should be ready to assemble the oven within another week or two.

Then I can get firearms taken care of!

AwEsome. I bought a new LCP about a month ago & the finish is already wearing off. I may get with you for a new look for it.

Hey David,

If you ever feel the need to turn an all stainless 1911 into something cool, lemme know, you can practice on mine...

I have a S&W all stainless, I would LOVE to change the color. maybe flat black slide and coyote frame, or something...

Just lemme know if you need a guinea pig, lord knows I am too broke to pay too much for an overhaul, let alone a new gun!! LOL...

You know, I was pretty pumped by the idea of a FDE / coyote frame on a 1911 until I finally saw one done up in all FDE and it looked like a chunk of dried up river bed. A mix of FDE and black would probably look pretty good though.

Ah, I found the photo in question...

Yeah, I wouldnt want the whole thing like that...not a fan of the look...but the black slide with my existing black grips, safety, and slide release would look good...what would be even better is the tan inside the slide serrations

if not tan, I was thinking grey.

Really? That's surprising about the LCP. I wouldn't have expected it to wear so fast.

Same here. I think it is a issue with the newer ones. I had 1 for about a year & it still looked like the day I bought it. This 1 is right at a month old & has been pocket carried in the exact same kind of holster a Desantis superfly & it's already showing wear. I've read of other folks having the same finish issues on their newer production run LCPs.

Negative. I haven't contacted them. I didn't think they would do anything about a finish issue.

I've got two XD's and both of them have a finish that comes off if I see something rough on TV. David, if you're looking to refinish for money, it sounds like you have a lot of potential customers right here.

Just saw this thread.......

Sounds like things are comming along. Like I said before, I'd be more than happy to pay you (when things are finished of course) to spray my SKS. :tough:
