Here is the August Shooting Contest information. Remember, you can win free ammo!!

1.) Be safe!

2.) Must use the target below (follow link for printable target); also write your screen name, gun, ammo, date etc. on the target.

3.) Your submitted target must have 10 shots only on it. Best ten shot group wins. If you take 20 targets to the range that day and choose the best target of the 20, fine by me. Only one can be submitted per contestant per month, though. (If you wish, you may submit a target for each caliber if you chose to shoot more than one gun, but only one taget per caliber per month per person)

4.) Unless otherwise stated, we will not be shooting from a rest.

5.) No pistol magnification scopes (red dot's ok)

6.) To submit your entry, take a photo of your target (and because we love guns, have your gun in the picture, too so we can drool over your glocks, 1911's, CZ's, revolvers, etc.). Submit the photo in the thread for the month. If you have questions about uploading photos, feel free to ask. A number of people can help.

7.) Past winners will be immortalized in a "hall of fame" list in each monthly thread for all to marvel at.

8.) Entry's due the last day of the month, by 11:59PM and 59 seconds. Winners will be announced within a day or two.

9.) There will be two divisions....centerfire pistols and rimfire/.22 pistols. You can shoot in either of those categories or both. It makes no difference to me. Just submit a different target for each if you want to do both. And please mark on your target if it's a rimfire submission.

Within those two divisions will be a women's division as well (not that men are better shots or anything).

IMPORTANT - Please feel free to congradulate and encourage everyone on their shooting when you submit targets, all I ask is that if you do reply to someone's post, please DO NOT include the picture of their target, this makes it harder for me to go through all the submissions to determine the winner. Thanks for understanding!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*The person who has the most wins (men and women) at the end of the year will each receive 2 boxes (100 rounds) of target ammo on me (upon availibility/pistol ammo only/I choose brand/Rimfire winner gets .22LR ammo). I'll mail ammo for those located in either West of East Tennessee. In the event of a tie, the scores from each month will be added to create a final score; if a tie continures after that, we will have a "shoot-off" with 2 targets per person, 5 shots each, one target shot at with right hand, one target shot at with left hand. If a tie STILL exists, we'll have a good ole' fashioned dual, and whoever is the last one standing wins. If both fall I keep the ammo
Here's the target for this competition:
August Rules:
1) 10 yards
2) Two handed, Weaver Stance (dominate hand w/ weight on forward foot)
3) Post a picture of the target and gun together
Good luck, have fun, and be safe!
I had forgotten how unstable Weaver stance was, no self respecting modern shooter should be subjected to weaver stance. I know bitch bitch..lol..
Area has built up so much around me I can't do the back yard as often as good ole days. Usually, I'm doing the Hafner Gun Club (old Owl Hollow). If I'm lucky in ammo grabs I shoot couple times a month.
Next time I get ready, we gotta hook up!!
It's to bad you didn't photoshop that scope off of your gun, b/c then you wouldn't have gotten: DISQUALIFIED!!!!!
Just kidding, I know it's hard for you to see past 5 yrds, let alone 10....:lol:
Here's my entry. 115gr Tennessee Cartridge reloads. I did alot better with the cheap stuff than I did with the box of Black Hills 124gr I bought for this shoot.
I got to get out to the range more than once a month.
I don't really care but it looks suspiciously like you edited the rules to include red dot scopes after Westwindmikes entry.
OP of the thread,
Your post okaying use of red dot scope post # 12
It wasn't allowed last month when I asked.
Sounds to me like my use of the red dot sight is causing controversy in what should be a fun competition. If the administrator of the shoot wants me too, I'll withdraw my entry.
How's that Mike.357?
Posted
Mike I am not getting at that, so don't go there. You shot wonderfully and I congratulate you. NO withdrawel is needed. That was not the point of my post, please.
You're correct, I did adjust the rules to allow red-dot sights but not any type of magnification scopes. Mike's picture (even thought not a magnification scope) reminded me that some folks may have a magnification scope because his red-dot was so large.
Regarding Motasyco's inquiry, I apologize I probably was thinking you meant something with magnification, feel free to use a red dot.
Mike is not disqualified, it was a joke, i.e. the "just kidding" underneath (apparently my attempt at humor failed...)
To cease any further confusion: The OP can alter, add, delete rules at any time without notice. The OP can stop the competition at any time without notice. How's that, we good? :woohoo:
I hear ya, and I think 99% of us on here are trustworthy enough to not even have rules, but it gives us a basis to work with vs "just go shoot some targets and post your best one". As things have come up, I've adjusted things, so it's fair to everyone.
We split the two categories up (Rimfire v Centerfire) b/c I didn't want anyone saying the Rimfire guys had an advantage; originally I had no red dots, but that's not fair to folks with bad eye sight; what about compensators; purpose built target pistols; what if Jessie Abbate enters under a screen name (well, that'd be awesome, and I'd make a new rule that she has to shoot in a swimsuit and post pictures of her shooting in the swimsuit...:))
Anyway, please don't take this contest to seriously, it's main intent was to get more folks out there practicing. I added the ammo prize to garner more participation, but remember, it's only ammo...
I can't promise I won't make another change, but can't see anything else I may need to add/delete
Sorry dude, can't use SIG's, I just added that rule, like right before you went to the range. :)
