No, I'm pretty certain Biden would step up, barring any disqualification on his part. The electors voted for President and Vice President separately, so regardless of Obama's qualifications, Biden is the Vice President. That is another reason the Vice President is sworn in quietly before the President on the morning of 20 January; if no President shall have qualified by noon on 20 January, the Vice President immediately becomes President. Also, if you look at the way the President is chosen in the House if the electoral college cannot make a choice, it is possible for the House not to be able to make a selection either. For the Vice President, the process in the Senate will not allow a non-selection.

Yes, but did you vote for Obama/McCain and then select a different button for Biden/Palin? To me it comes as a package deal. Of course, you are correct that the electors can vote that way. Therefore, I guess it would apply since my vote is not directly for a person, but instead implies who I would like for my electors to pick.

You might want to check on a couple of things first, such as when did Kenya break away from GB, etc.

And this issue is or should be as dead as the dead horse still being beaten...do you not think, honestly, that with all the money some of those in Ms Clinton's camp had, this would not have surfaced LONG ago?

I am not so fond of some of the antics from DC, but this is just silliness (my humble opinion and I do not mean to be offensive to a fellow TGO'er); we need to be reading the draft version of the healthcare bill, looking into bank bailouts and how our tax money was/is really being used to name a few things of real import to our country.

I will make a prediction on healthcare, right now: the CURRENT version will not pass. Will something be done? Likely, as that genie is out of the bottle and the idea has legs.

My hope is it will get a good dose of common sense and be modeled more after some successful state overhauls of healthcare programs; it can be done "right".

But back to the birth certificate - it's a dead duck, has been, let's move along, nothing to see here... but it does, indeed, make for some heated debate, especially with that lawyer lady from Laguna Niguel, CA.

its easy if it was never there. issue a order to seal any and all documents, while it makes some people feel good that the documents are there, it still doesn't truely admit the presesnce of anything.

as much as lots of people would like to see this come to fruition, i'm sure there would be an impeachment process (not sure if there is any wording on how to handle someone who falsely represents their citizenship - unless we just call it treason and move on) and since all branches are now owned by the administration, they would probably find some reason to change the constitution vs having to go back and change every law and package that gives away multi-trillions that he has signed, which should become void with the presidency, if it was found true.

I just have a question about this. The document in question seems to bear our what his paternal grandmother has been saying all along. She's been saying since the campaign that he was born in Kenya and she was there at the hospital when he was born. Why would she lie about it?

I don't recall his maternal grandmother in Hawaii saying she was there at the birth. People are saying he was born in Hawaii since there were birth announcements in Hawaiian newspapers. But couldn't his American grandmother just placed the birth announcements in the paper regardless of where he was born, so that her's and her daughter's friends would see it?

And there is the nagging issue of Obama spending close to a million dollars of his own money in legal fees fighting the release of the original birth certificate? If everything's in order, why spend the money? All we get is some bureaucratic hack from the Hawaii Health Department saying he's seen the original and it's in order. And we should believe him why?

There's just too many unanswered questions. And this is the hack that promised the "most transparent presidency ever".

5¢ a word is all the newspaper cared about. It's just an announcement, as HexHead said. It's not a matter of 'official' public record. They don't call up the hospital or health department and give the secret password to verify.

I photograph weddings. Many times the couple has an announcement printed in the paper locally where the wedding took place, and then one or both mothers may have an announcement printed in their own home towns, perhaps hundreds or even thousands of miles away, and days, weeks or even months later.

BTW, I would be shocked if he was actually born in HI. My money's on Kenya.
