Just found out that my best friend (more like closest thing to a brother I ever had), who's been in Iraq since last august, is up for a silver star! We're pretty proud of him. He didn't tell us what its for, but we're assuming its from April 10th, 2009. The patrol he was leading was hit by an IED in a dumptruck, estimated at 10,000 lbs of explosive. Their timely action kept it from reaching a more populated area when they opened fire on it after it ran a checkpoint, however, the driver detonated the explosives, killing 5 of his men, and wounding a 6th. By the way, if you look up the news article, it won't be written quite like this, it wasn't reported as it actually happened.

I hate to hear that some of his men did not make it but I am glad to hear that they saved many lives. Please wish him a speedy and safe return.

Makes me proud to be an American. He and his fellows will be in my prayers.:usa:

I have a friend that was a civilian contractor over there for a while. She told us all kinds of stories. She also told how what little that goes on over there that actually gets reported is told completely wrong. I'm not sure of the agenda our news media, but I have ZERO respect for it.
