Whats a good place to get accessory pouches? Maxpedition web site is high! In mine I carry a leatherman and another similar tool, 2 wspare mags of .45, 2 spare mags of 9mm and 2 spare mags of .380, spare eyeglasses, pen, paper, rem oil wipes, expandable baton, 3 pocket knives and a bottle of water.

You can find some good but more discreet pouches, bags, 1st aid kits and other stuff at REI and there's an added bonus of telling some hippie working there what it's for.

I shop there just to freak the hippies out! Seriously though they have great dual duty stuff that dont scream I am a tactitool. (not that there is anything wrong with that)

I ran across one of the "discreet" bags ripped open about five miles back in the Smokies. For general hiking, yep, that'll do. For Oh ****, get the **** out of Dodge bags I prefer something more substantial. If you really want discreet, "not so tactical", get one of Maxpedition's new colors that they have available.

Titanium?

Is that to reduce weight so you can pick up extra speed while eating?

That's the backpacker's mentality, "it all adds up"

Titanium to withstand the bite pressure I exert on a spork when I'm eating really fast. I've been through so many stainless and plastic sporks. Plus, it hurts to pass the severed end when your out in the woods. It has improved my wolf and coyote calls, though. OOOOOWWWWOWOWOWWWOOOWWWWWWW!

along with your titanium spork, how much weight to you estimate you are saving by using hi-tech material rather than regular old style army surplus junk?

it really all does add up

I carry the maxpedition jumbo as well, I have a my 44 special as well as digital camera, extra 2a and 3a batteries, sunglasses (in their case) leattherman, screwdriver with 12 optional tips, roll of tape, whistle, gps, pen, notebook, 32oz water, meds, a spare knife, busisness cards, small first aid kit, glasses repair kit and I am sure somethings I can't remember without going in there. But I don't leave it in the truck I carry it. BTW so far I have seen nothing that compares in quality to the maxpedition products, if you have please let me know.

When I'm backpacking I use a large ALICE pack. You've seen my Maxpedition. Its not that heavy and rides on the shoulder rather well. It stays in the truck most of the time, anyways. Some of what I use is milsurp, the other stuff either saves weight or fits my needs to where it doesn't matter. Some milsurp is crap or too bulky to fit in the bag with the rest of the gear. I make room for the poncho, even though it takes up so much space. Give and take.

I carry this bag Keen Oswego Bag at REI.com in brown. The really cool thing about it is the bottom is made of the same material their shoe soles are made of. This makes the bottom weighty so it stays in place but it also makes it more rigid. THe front pocket is the perfect size for my glock. It also has accessory pockets that are stretchy and will hold a a spare mag. I looked at the Maxpedition bags and they are too tactical for me, even in the other colors. If I see someone carrying that I am going to think Gun. Granted I am probably a little more in the know than the average coffee drinking laptop geek but I really want to draw as little attention as possible to the fact that I may or may not have a gun on a given day.

That rainbow pack is funnny dont think someone carrying that thing may not be packing though.... http://www.washblade.com/2008/2-15/view/editorial/12057.cfm

I agree , quality seems great. I carry mine everywhere as well. The wife makes fun of me, but I got tired of crap in my pockets, and would rather have this than a diaper bag.

I also just got the Fliegerduffel from Max, not as big as I thought it would be, so I may sell it and get the larger version (Doppelduffel).

...because even on vacation, I gotta be tacticool

My car bag is a Timbuk2 they are made as good as any other you will find and have the lifetime guarantee. Another thing I like about the bag is how it is coated and designed to repel water where a lot of the tactical bags have zippers on the top. The one I use now is the step down from the actual diaper bag now that the kids are old enough. This is NOT a cheap way to do it but...

I've tried a couple of the Maxpedition bags and while I didn't feel that they drew any extra attention while carried the biggest downfall to me was that I had to take things out in order to get to something else - with my bag everything is accessible. Also, a couple times I did carry inside of the bag and prefer to keep it on my side!

NOTE* After I took the pics I added an Israeli Bandage and a second better quality Emergency Blanket.

Contents:

Rain Jacket

Cap

Water Purifier

2-way Radio

Pre-Packaged Survival Kit

Hygiene stuff, Sunblock, and Insect Repellent

Spork (yes it's titanium why not)

2 Multi tools

Ammo and Spare Mags

Petzl Flashlight/strobe

First Aid stuff

Water Bottle w/ Lantern Top

My other bag is a Esstac Metro House/Bedside/Travel/Woods Bag. I needed something to keep things together where they could be locked up and then go when needed. It's slim enough to where I can slide it in my Laptop bag and it rests nicely on the floor board leaning against the seat on the road.

That looks more like my bug out bag that stays in the car.

It pretty much does but also goes with me to the zoo or any other kind of other touristy type things where I'd carry a man bag. I've slid out some of the contents depending on what I was doing and filled the bottle but other than that it's no different carry or size wise than a Jumbo Versipack.

True. But 99.9% of the time I want to be low key.
