Hooters doesn't care

It has everything to do with it, they are trying to tell me what to do, or in what manner I can defend myself. That is my decision to make, not theirs.

So your not going to let someone tell you what to do,but you'll tell them what to do?

When it comes to matters of my defense, yes.

You don't have any right whatsoever to come onto my property if you're not going to follow my rules. It's not a choice. If you need to stay armed, you don't have the right to choose whether you're allowed on my property or not. You just aren't allowed. That's it. Whether you tell me you're armed or not, if you are, you're not allowed on my property.

The right of the property owner isn't necessarily to disarm you, it's to refuse you admittance if you're armed. They can't say "Take your gun off no matter what", they can only say "You have a gun so you're not allowed here". That doesn't violate your rights. Just because a business is open to the public doesn't mean the public owns it and can set their own rules. If I open a business and make it open to the public, that business and that property is not yours. It's not "public property", it's "private property" that is "open to the public". That means, so long as you follow the rules of the property, you may come in if you wish. Your life does not depend on you coming here so you have no right to tell me what I can or cannot restrict here.

Property owners are not disarming anyone. They're just not allowing the armed on their property, which is and certainly should be, their right.

That being said, according to my rules in real life, anyone is allowed to be armed in my house unless I see them being unsafe with their weapon.

I disagree with most of that, but then again, I have a different view on property than most people. I believe that we all live on this earth, so we all own it. I don't really believe in owning stuff, actually, but those are the current laws, so I will abide by them, and not "trespass".

If by 'different' you mean completely and irreversibly wrong, and against the very fiber of what this country was founded on, then yeah, I guess 'different' is the way to describe that.

Do we all own that gun you carry?

I was thinking more along the lines of land and such. I don't mean no one anywhere should own anything, but most people have too materialistic of a viewpoint.

Not really, more of a higher order of thinking, being able to let go of possessiveness, and not worry so much about what you own. I would go into more of it, but it's basically derailing this thread.

Funny how it's just the people who don't own real property that believe that everyone owns it.

Man I was going to post that but I thought… No, just leave it alone.

It’s the same with the people that aren’t worried about getting sued. If you don’t have anything; you have nothing to worry about.

That "higher order of thinking" has the stink of socialism on it to me

From wikipedia: "Modern socialism originated in the late 18th-century intellectual and working class political movement that criticized the effects of industrialization and private ownership on society"

Socialism has some great ideals, unfortunately it doesn't work. Most people are too shallow and greedy. Capitalism is the best economic system for what we have, and we don't even have true capitalism.

No, maybe people realized early on that ownership is an illusion? If 1 million people think that owning a BMW makes you a better person, is it true because a lot of people believe it? I won't buy land or a house because I want to travel around, see the country. I am only in one spot for now because of school.

Not really, liberals seek control and disarmament. I am completely against disarmament, and feel that you have the right to defend yourself ANYWHERE. I wish people could walk around with loaded rifles and pistols all the time, and no one think it was strange in the least. Someone trying to tell me that a property owner can tell me not to carry is BS. So I can carry, except here, and here, and there, whatever. If you buy a lot of things, you become enslaved to your possessions. Even if I had the money, I would not buy a nice car or house, for one thing, it makes you a target, also, I do not need to prove anything to people by spending 80K on a vehicle. I drive a 20 year old station wagon, and I do not have to worry about anyone stealing it or carjacking me, or even washing it. I own a computer, a few guns, and a car, and some hiking stuff, that is basically it, I have preferred living this way for as long as I could remember, and found it amusing when I saw a family moving and they had to use a U-Haul with the capacity of a semi.

Hooters still doesn't care.

I was kind of hoping they might start after this long thread.
