Not my shining moment...

Sounds lke you handled the situation properly. Doesn't matter what makes your spidey sense go off...listen to it.

Let me know if you find something that'll work to secure the gun in your car better than the glove box.

Unfortunately, many of the disturbed veterans at the local VA center do wear boonies.

This remark and Len's are both uncalled for. It's now acceptable to take cheap shots at veterans?

I'd hope for better from this group.

I meant no disrespect to veterans. Quite the opposite. I was trying describe the reaction of others when I wear the hat, not my own thoughts. I fully and completely apologize to any veterans I may have offended, such was not my intent. I also fully support efforts to get our veterans the best health (mental, physical, etc) care possible, they deserve nothing less.

No offense taken here.

2) No gun! I don't carry at work (can't due to the law) and I don't like leaving a gun in my car.

There’s the problem. Guns are cheap; leave one in your car. If it’s out of sight locked in your car it’s not like you are leaving a weapon unsecured. If someone enters your car they are a criminal and will steal it no matter what you put it in. If you put it in something they have trouble opening; they will steal the car to find out what it is.

Uh, I'm a veteran and I wore a boonie this morning in the rain. And a lot of the old veterans like me at the VA do wear boonies, especially the disturbed ones I know who tend to build their hooches off of VA property. And we do make fun of each other for doing crap like that because we know where the other guys have been and how they got that way.

And someone needs to take their Midol.
