So are the knives any good? Ive never owned 1. I been thinking of a new EDC knife & was leaning towards a Benchmade Griptillian but saw a few pics of a Ka-Bar Hawkbill knife that really caught my eye.

Thoughts?

Wasn't there just a thread on this a couple weeks ago? I have two, love em! But if you want the K-bar bowie, see it in person first, the online image everyone is using is distorted, its MUCH thicker and uglier than in the picture.

How could generations of US Marines be wrong? :D

good point, the only K-BARs now made in US are the classic military looking ones, the resy are made in Taiwan.

Not exactly so. I don't know exactly which ones are and are not, but I have the Ka-Bar camp knife (bought in last 6 months), and it is made in USA.

Also have the 9" blade Bowie, and it is indeed made in Taiwan.

I don't know about their entire line, but the good old Marine K-bar is one rugged hunk of steel.

I would love to find a USN MKII at a good price.

Best price I have seen on a K-bar lately is in the surplus store up in Monteagle, $40 brand new, US Army commemorative (sheath has all the fancy junk, but knife is plain except a stamped "US army" just above the crosspiece).
