no mention of suppressors/silencers in regs

I looked through the current regs and unlike previous years where suppressors/silencers were mentioned there was no mention of them.

Is it now legal to hunt game in TN with a suppressor?

because you can.

safer for your ears.

doesnt alert other animals.

doesnt alert other hunters.

because liberals hate it.

because you can.

If it were legal(if it isn't?), why would anyone want to hunt WITHOUT a suppressor?:dirty:

Why use a suppressor when hunting?

Simple reasons

1. It is curtious to others and to the people that are being nice enough to let you hunt on their land to not be causing excessive noise around them thier families and their livestock.

2. In case you dont know hearing loss is cumulative and gunshots without hearing protection DO cause irraparable hearing damage. You can either put the hearing protection on/in your ears or on the gun. If it is on/in your ears than EVERY sound is affected if it is on your gun only the gunshot it affected. So if you use a silencer/suppressor you get the hearing protection benifit without hampering you ability to hear things such as animal movement and even more importantly other hunters who may need help(think your child who just fell out of tree).

Most people simply take the hearing damage but I would prefer to protect my ears.

3.... Insert whatever you want because if you were legally able you dont need a reason.

Also it should be noted that on basically all rifles commonly used for hunting the silencer/suppressor is not going to make the gun sound like something out of an old spy movie. The gun will still make noise. For instance my rifle sounds much like a 22lr when shot with a silencer/suppressor on the end.

Well i called twra earlier today and left a message with my question and recieved a call later.

The nice lady on the phone( i left a message with the general counsel number given on the twra site pdf of the pamphlet) said that it is perfectly legal to take game with a weapon using a silencer/suppressor provided that silencer/suppressor was legally owned.

As the "gun guy" someone actually came and asked about purchasing a suppressor for his gun for hunting. Unfortunatly I was unaware of the truth and told him that it wasnt legal based on what someone told me earlier. When I got home I wanted to make sure that i didnt mislead him so I started looking around.

Now I have to find him and tell him I was wrong:rolleyes: Oh well at least now I know the legal truth.
