Disturbing discovery

I have a PLR 16 (223 pistol) that comes factory with 10 round mags, I have always used my 30 round mags in it with no problems. That said here is my problem:

I just purchased a Ruger Sr556 and in order to use my "bench rest" I need to use the shortened mags in it, well they won't fit, won't go in my S&W M&P15a either.:D

Now here is my question, Are you supposed to be able to use the regular 30 rounders in a PLR 16? The reason I ask is last week I went out shooting (finally) with my son and his PLR 16 kept jamming, failing to extract. I don't think the problem is related but wanted to ask all the Ar guru's. His problem sound slike an extractor problem not a mag problem, am I correct?

Thanks in advance for the help.:D

Thanks, so apparently the 10 round factory kel tec mags must have a stops on them to keep you from using them in an AR. No problem. I'll figure out something on that.

Also I have 2 extractors coming from KT. Mine is not acting up (yet) but I figure I might as well have an extractor handy just in case.:D

Yeah you are supposed to be able to use standard AR mags in a PLR.

I thought as much. Now the other way around will not work for some strange reason.;)

I discovered this since I was gonna use my plr mags in my Ruger Sr556, well that ain't gonna work:rolleyes:, guess I can always try and site it in without "benching it". All I know is @ 100yrds I hit the paper 6 times out of 30 rounds, of course I guess that's pretty good since with open sights all I could see was a square that was covered up by the front site:screwy:.

Prone unsupported.

It'll fix all your issues.

ROTFLMAF.

You haven't met me but I don't do prone very well, many years of good eating have nipped that in the bud.;)

LOL. I could but there is not a good place at the range to do prone, they have shooting benches set up and then it's rocks with grass growing through them:rolleyes: .

Sounds like an extractor problem to me.

I have 2 PLR 16's - never used anything but 30 round mags in them and never a problem.

20 round mags are better of the bench or prone (for the young guys)
